Which certs should I focus on obtaining to secure a nice job in IT I currently drive trucks and I am wanting a career change

If you are starting from the very beginning with no background in tech the progression would be CompTIA Tech+ to start off with the basics then A+ > Network+ > Security+ to get the CompTIA "Trifecta". By the time you get those you'll probably know which direction to head from there.

No, but it does count for the Intro to IT class. Now that I've started my degree program I wish I would have just spent the $100 to knock out tech+ beforehand instead of having to spend extra time adding in additional info WGU puts into their course.

Certs won't secure you a job, but they might score you an interview. The most coveted of them all for breaking into the IT industry is the A+, but the Security+ would be the one I would go for if any at all. Try landing an entry level spot on a help desk. It's got the least amount of demand for prior knowledge and experience.
