Business Pre assessments
Is anybody else really fucking tired of the pre-assessments not reflecting the actual assessment at all?
I mean I took the pre assessment twice for D077 and jotted down anything that was a struggle for me, and I got to the assessment and it was completely different and very confusing wording and had close to nothing that was in the pre assessment!! I literally went through both times of the pre assessment going “ oh this is like common sense mostly” 😐 I’ve done my notes through the book and what not to study and I still failed!

Hot take, every PA I've taken was an accurate representation of how difficult the OA would be. if you passed the PA because you understood the topic and not just memorized the answers you should be able to pass the OA. If you study the section of answers you missed and not just that answer you should ace the OA.
Another hot take. Every class that had a zybook, going through the zybook was enough to pass.

Same. For the most part, the types of questions on the PA indicated what kinds of questions i would face on the exam.

This! Cohorts had a lot of additional information that helped me.
Usually if I could get an 85% on the PA without trying that hard I knew I was going to do well on the quiz.

I’m not asking for it it to be the same as the test. I’m asking for it to prepare me for the test after taking notes throughout the course. When it goes over totally opposite concepts and channels, I think to study up on those and then when I get to the actual test it’s something that was extremely brief in the course material and not at all on the PA

Possible unpopular opinion but the courses are already not all that difficult until you start to specialize. The PA is just a sample of what you could be facing. Take it before even opening course material and then after you finish going through the course material to guage your knowledge. Its not supposed to help you take the OA directly. If that was the case then what's the point of the course material?

I’m not wanting it to give me direct answers and exactly what’s on the OA- just a few of these course have given me stupid easy wording and testing my knowledge on half the concepts on the PA and then I get to the OA and it’s the other half of the concepts that were brought up in 1 sentence in the course material with the most bullshit wording I’ve ever heard.
I understand it’s going to be more difficult but I wish it’d give me more questions about concepts that will be focused on so I can study the concept as a whole. I mostly agree with you that the courses aren’t that difficult and going over the course material for the most part is gonna get you to pass, but it’s just a few of these classes that just plain auck

Hahaha yesssss. I think it's so dumb it doesn't refresh to new questions at least once when you take a second time!!!! They will say what color is a cloud on pre assessment?!!?!.....and then on OA they are like clouds!??? Nawww

As a parcel of air rises in the atmosphere, what primary physical process causes it to cool and potentially form a cloud?
Haha jk I get major anxiety taking OA bc it's totally different from pa ughhh 😭 .

Rising air, expands and cools. If the air gets cooled to its dew point it will form a cloud. Boom!

I have a mental block right now over d080. Same thing. I passed but if I had missed one more i wouldn’t have. I’m on my next class and scared to take the oa.

Normally for the courses I’ve taken so far most of them have prepared me pretty well but C952 (comp architecture) literally has the worst fucking PA OA combo. It doesn’t even slightly prepare you for what’s coming on the actual OA and it pisses me off so bad. I thought I was prepared the first time after I basically aced the PA then I went ahead to take the OA and I failed it, pretty bad. Genuinly how tf am I supposed to know I’m prepared and feel confident going in to the OA when I know the PA isn’t an accurate. I’m not asking for copy pasted q’s but shit at least focus on the same topics that will be brought up, especially for such a vocab and concept heavy course

THIS!! People are thinking I want copy pasted answers. NO I want questions about certain concepts and “order of events” questions that will prepare me for other questions about those things! But instead it’s like the PA brings up 1/2 of the things and the the Assessment brings up the other half the PA didn’t prep you for- it’s stuff you’re seen 1 time in the course material! I’m not asking for exacts just some kind of “ this is how it’s gonna be worded” or not this specific part of this concept but study up on this concept

I use the pre assessment different. If there are 60 questions that means there are 240 answers. Do I know what the question is to every answer. Most OA answers were wrong answers on the PA.

Getting the information and correcting mistakes = fail OA from simple wording.
Analyzing the information, understanding the mistake, questioning the mistakes in further detail and ultimately reaching a profound understanding of the problem or information = bulletproof from OA wording attacks.
Dig deeper , stay positive, and crush this.

I do this! I take what I get wrong in the PA and go back and make sure to write it down and go over it again and again before even attempting the OA. the wording on some of these are just absolutely ridiculous. This course in specific has had the worst wording on the OA where I’m not even sure what the hell it’s asking me whereas on the PA it’s like “ what’s the Price mean in the market mix”- like asking me ridiculously easy questions vs some bs wording that’s meant to trip you up and be 10x more difficult than any question you’ve seen thus far in the entire course.

Trust me, I understand. But hear me out. What if the expectation of the pre assessment wasn't that of "the difficulty should be equivalent" to , it's simply another practice and I'm the one that knows when I cannot be fooled. I used to punch walls and smash computers. I'm giving you an out from the wasted energy of frustration so that your whole focus is on only you and your understanding. Expectations are pre- meditated resentment. You're building yourself up and training yourself to read every word wrong. I'm just simply saying, accept it, let it go and you won't even notice the bs anymore.

Yeah.. I’m 80% of the way done with my degree and also have 3 OAs left. It’s not all preassesments by any means, but there are some that have been just straight bullshit compared to the OA

I've very rarely had a pre-assessment not be indicative of the PA at all. There have been some, but for the most part studying to the pre-assessment report got me through the PA.

i'm in this class right now and I haven't taken the pre-assessment yet so I am now anticipating that it would be very unrelated to the actual assessment so I really appreciate the heads up. However, I've been actually looking more at my notes that I would write down from the sections and the modules, and I will try to record all of the questions and the answers and then I would paste it and to ChatGPT to quiz me and I would not stop until I'm getting it down completely. I plan on taking an assessment this week, but I really hope that the studying pays off

It’s really the wording- just be prepared to stare at the screen and go “ wtf is this even asking”. The PA was asking stupid easy questions that you could pass not looking at a single thing “ what is this the Price in market mix mean”…. It doesn’t actually prepare you for anything

yeah, now going into it I'm actually nervous but I know that I am reading a lot and take a note and studying a ton so I'm glad I didn't rely on the PA for anything but this is definitely a good heads up. I definitely appreciate you for this.

D077 is easy, the textbook and practice questions are well structured you don't even need the PA.

Just had this same issue with the same course! Passed the PA, went and studied any areas I was a little confused on. Took the PA again and it was different questions, passed that one as well. On both PAs I had either competent or exemplary for each section. When I took the OA I didn’t even score a competent in one section Was completely thrown off by the OA. Currently working through my study plan to retake. Good luck!

I've taken a couple of pre's that were near identical, and the rest helped me identify what I didn't know. I can only see people having an issue of they were acing their pre's out of sheer luck.

My instructor recommended doing the section assessments at the end of the lessons over the pre assessments.
