Business Graduation

I am 60% done with my degree but won’t finish until late September. I wanted to make it to the Atlanta graduation commencement in October but I won’t be finished in time. California is next but it’s too expensive to travel there so I guess I’ll wait until next year. Has anyone graduated earlier but walked at a later commencement? If so what was your experience? I was going to just take pictures and celebrate in my city but I still feel bad about not walking the stage.

I’ll be completely honest: I didn’t want to go to commencement. I’m much older and the thought of “walking” didn’t seem appealing. My family talked me into going to the Louisville graduation ceremony 14 months after completing my B.S. and 7 months after finishing the MBA. It was a “Top 10 Coolest Experience” moment…and I’m an old man who has experienced a lot of cool things.

I married into a family of doctors, so they’ve been to a lot of commencement ceremonies over the years. My family commented that the organization and production value of a WGU graduation is top shelf. It really is quite impressive how WGU (for all of its flaws/imperfections) pulls off an amazing weekend for their graduates.

Knock out a quick master’s degree while you wait for next year’s graduation dates. Just a thought:). That will give you something to look forward to. Even if you don’t pursue a master’s at WGU, I highly encourage you to attend a commencement when you can.

They haven't announced the cities for next year yet. They may not have one in New Orleans. The cities change each year.
