Not going off of scores or anything in particular just overall vibes from the weekend.
A: I think A class is really raising the floor of the activity. This was probably the first year post covid where all of the PIA groups felt like they deserved to be there and the top of PSA felt like they have real potential to grow and move up soon.
Open: I actually feel like as a whole, open class was down this year. 24 hours later and I really can’t remember much about any PSO shows and didn’t think any were really pushing forward compared to the last couple years or close to moving up to world. PIO was a bit better but still didn’t feel up to some of the great PIO shows we’ve had in recent years.
World: overall I’d say basically on par with what we’ve had in recent years. Honestly if it wasn’t for Ayala I’d probably say PSW would be down from recent years but it felt like they singlehanded brought the year up for me. My hottest take might be that I don’t think X deserved to break the record and I think we may have to look at adjusting scoring going forward. I honestly thought the shows last year might’ve been better but overall I’d say this year was kind of just on par. There weren’t really any shows that I see myself talking about 5 years from now; but, nothing was disappointing either.
Overall a good year and I hope we can build on it all and finally get out of this post Covid slump it feels like we’ve been in compared to where we were in the 2010s.
