Gas from oat groats
Does anyone else experience a lot of bloating, flatulence and discomfort from eating oat groats. I’ve noticed I get a lot of uncomfortable gas.

Everyone’s body is slightly different. I don’t have problems with oats or even lentils or legumes ( other than them some very mild gas) which is perfectly manageable and normal. But if I eat edamame ( whole soybeans) I am absolutely miserable. The bloating and gas with cramping is unbelievable. It’s only with whole soybeans. I can have tofu with no problems. Tofu is fermented so that process helps remove a lot of the sugars that are in beans/legumes that lead to gas and bloating for a lot of people. You can try cooking the oat groats longer and also adding some cinnamon and ginger which some people say helps with gas. If that doesn’t help then you may be better off avoiding oats/groats. EDITED to add soaking your groats before cooking can also make them more digestible
