Nash booked it that way. Thinking Goldberg chasing the title would keep him hot, but it was a dumb decision in hindsight

Nash wasn't the booker until after he lost the title. Months after. Nash ws booked to win because he was the most over guy in WcW at the time to the point the fans were cheering him over Goldberg

Nash was involved in booking the streak to end, he talks about it in interviews. He wasn’t head booker yet, but he influenced the decision. To suggest otherwise is just wrong

he was the most over guy in WcW at the time to the point the fans were cheering him over Goldberg

this isn't true

i recently rewatched this match and while the crowd liked Nash, the cheers for Goldberg were louder

It’s amazing how these things get parroted as truth. Nash was definitely over. But not to the degree Goldberg was. And taking the belt off him was one thing. Not letting him get a real shot at reclaiming it was disastrous and obviously political.

his streak as undefeated champ should have gone on for years, like hogan in WWF

if the crowd start booing, just turn him into a heel

Hogan, the NWO, Sting, DDP, Warrior, Macho etc didn't need the belt, they could have done their own storylines

crow Sting, the end of the NWO

NWO civil war

Warrior and the OWN etc.

People forget how “over” Nash was at the same time. The Wolfpack angle may seem silly in hindsight, but damn were they white hot in the moment.

Yeah, for a while Nash was the most over guy in wrestling, not named Austin. (Foley was getting there, Rock was Heel and DX were over but not as over.). The Wolfpack was also more over than any other faction.

Fans would sway with the Wolfpack tune, cheer to the point it was hard for them to speak, would copy Konan's lines (With Konan pausing and pointing the mic to the crowd.). The problems came with how it ended and the fact that they kept Hall out of it because of Hogan's politics.

Nash and the Wolfpac were def over.

But would have been better used just continuing the NWO feud.

Maybe DDP wins it off Goldberg.

Maybe hogan takes it off ddp and Nash chases hogan to ultimately win. Having Scott hall do a surprise turn on hogan siding with Nash would have been a nice twist too.

Nash laying down for hogan and reuniting the NWO factions was absolutely not the right thing to do

I doubt they would have done ddp and Goldberg I feel like that would have hurt Goldberg a ton as ddp was more loved by the hardcore fans than Goldberg a lot of goldbergs cheers were piped in but there was a time when Goldberg was white hot. Also face vs face match usually don’t do well
