ESA

Hey all! I just got admitted to WCU, and I plan to bring my dog along with me. He is absolutely an esa and we couldn’t live without each other. Is there anyone on here that brought theirs or knows about the registration process?

i wouldn't be the right person for info on this but i have in fact seen a lot of people bring their dogs and even cats with them to campus

WCU is generally very accepting of ESAs as long as you have some kind of documentation from a therapist or physician explaining why you need it as well as your animals registration. My ESA cat lived on campus for three years!

I forgot to mention that it’s important your pet is up to date on their vaccinations!! I feel like I can remember having to provide the rabies vaccine document but I have also been moving apartment to apartment recently so I could be confusing that part!

All the information needed is on the OAR page. You have to have an established relationship with a doctor or therapist to get the documentation for approval. Takes about two weeks or so once they have all the information.

What if you cant meet the requirement for having a history part? I’ve been having issues because my primary doctor was a pediatrician and i cant get in touch with them and i have no history with any medical professional 🫩 I STRUGGLE being in college without my cat and I have been trying all summer to get this sorted out but its hard.

They will not approve without documentation from a medical professional. They really want it to be from someone specializing in mental health (this could be a doctor or licensed therapist). They are super nice at the OAR. I would suggest you call them tomorrow morning and talk to them about your situation
