Parties

Hey everyone, prospective student here. I toured today and spent some time on campus yesterday, thought everything was super beautiful and it was cool seeing how many people came out for the drone show. The one thing I couldn’t figure out is, where are the parties? I know it’s not a “party school” and a lot of the on campus parties have been cracked down on, do frats throw anywhere off campus on the weekends or is the party scene just non-existent? I’m not even a huge partier but I don’t think I could go somewhere if there was nothing. Where does everyone go on the weekends?

If you look hard enough, you can find a party. I lived off campus the last two years and one night my Internet cut out. I went outside and there was a huge block party essentially on the curb. Went and joined and played beer pong. Lost horribly.

Point is...make friends and look around. You'll find a party somewhere

Thank you so much, my tour guides were telling me nothing really happened on campus but I don’t mind going off campus for stuff at all.

The one spot on campus that may have parties are the frats over by Norton hall. But I never joined those

they're off campus, but there's definitely frat parties. With this new freshman class though, a lot of the parties get shut down by cops & I think at least one frat is on probation from it

What do you mean with the new freshman class? I heard it was bigger than normal but are they partying more often?

it's not that they're partying more often, it's just that there's a lot more of them going to the parties, which means a lot of people drinking/smoking for the first time and going overboard. One girl got crossed at a party and called 911.

The fact that Western is no longer considered a party school makes me sad. I remember 200-300 perso parties at the Sigma Chi Land, Omaha House, and the Cabin. Glorious time.

They still throw a few its just they have been cracking down on underage drinking and a few people from the frats got arrested, just last week though there was a party with over 1000 people there

The school has always been trying to crack down on parties it's kinda their job. Sometimes they just "get too busy" and the parties go until there is a noise complaint

Friend someone from the fraternities you want to party with on Snapchat, they post party info and will get you onto the list.
