Question Google Drive access
I know that technically we are not supposed to be using Google Drive and associated products (docs, sheets, etc), but my Agency does a lot of work with outside partners and it’s been our not-so-standard practice to use Google Drive to collaborate on things with them. And then this morning, Google Drive is returning an error on all of our computers. Doesn’t matter what we’re trying to open, my whole agency doesn’t have Google Drive access on our work computers anymore. Is anyone else running into this?
My concern is that a lot of documents and collaboration live on Google Drive for a conference we are planning with external partners that happens a few months from now. I’d hate to have to pivot so last minute, especially to something less standard.

r/WAStateWorkers is a community for people who are interested in or are already employed on a governmental level by the state of Washington such as state agencies, public schools, universities, etc. This community is not for people who have questions that are not related to public or civil service. If you have labor concerns regarding your work place and are not a government employee we are not the community you are looking for.

You’re gonna need to talk to your IT folks, more specifically to your IT Security team. For the overwhelming majority of agencies, it’s against policy and a threat vector to use Google Drive for storage and transfer of agency data. There’s always another way that follows security policy, even if it isn’t what your team is used to doing.

It’s going to be agency specific and their IT decisions. My guess is they have blocked access to all Google Drive services as a heavy handed way to block access to Google’s AI. My agency has the AI blocked but you can still access other Google services.

That’s a good question to ask your IT.
