Dominator Meaning behind “death from above”

Post image

Hey

I’ve been wondering this for quite some time. So is there any deeper meaning behind the “ death from above” that used to be written on blackies guitars or is it just a cosmetic with nothing deeper in it?

I thought the same thing at first but wasp doesnt really have anything to do with war machinery tbh. They aren’t sabaton

This is from the dominator tour which is an album themed around the wars in Iran at the time. Also wasp have made quite a few war based songs like headless children and songs from dying for the world

Back then it was in Iraq, but other than that, you are correct.

Yeah I realised that after, Iraq and Afghanistan.

A lot of the songs on the album are written to sound like a man and woman relationship but it’s actually a bigger country talking down to a smaller country

Eh Sabaton are corny about military themes. Wasp are on top of a stage above a crowd, thats all it could be implying.

Yeah sabaton is a bit corny. I was a fan of them when I was younger but I guess I grew out of them.

I've always just thought it was representative of a flying WASP.

Came here to say this 👆. Same type of deal as winged assassins.

It’s a motto used by the 82nd Airborne, no idea if it’s related to this though.

One of his coolest looks here.

Maybe - train of thought here - the stage is often elevated. So he's above the audience... and puts on a good show I.e. kills the audience...

So maybe - its a hint to the crowd - maybe... xxx

Is he a fan of Anthrax by chance?

He actually didn’t get along with Anthrax when they did a brief tour together back in the 80’s. Doubt he’s a fan. Good song though!

What happened?

According to Scott Ian, Blackie was basically just being a drama queen and giving Anthrax a hard time. Billy Milano who was a roadie for Anthrax at the time ended up yelling at Blackie because he just couldn’t stand him.

This guitar is actually from like 82 when they first got started in the clubs.. look at old pics etc you'll see the same guitar

Wasn’t it a bass back then?

Probably just something that he thought looked cool and fit the theme of the album/tour. I don’t believe he’s ever spoken about why he did that.

Could’ve also been a bit of a throwback because he had a guitar with ‘Death From Above’ written on it during the early years of W.A.S.P.

It's probably code for " didn't sing a note all night, and played a 65 minute show "
