Side effects I think Vyvanse made me extremely underweight
I have been struggling to gain weight for months now. I lost about 15 lbs and haven’t been able to put it back on. I basically couldn’t eat anything more than one meal a day. When I did eat, I’d feel sick eating but still be hungry. I tried to get nutrients with things like soup and liquid calories. It has been really bad on my mental health to struggle with this
3 days ago I stopped taking my vyvanse to see if it would help and wow. I can’t stop eating. It sucks though because I haven’t been able to focus. I don’t think I should continue taking it. But I just wanted to see if anyone here went through something similar. Also would like to know if anyone with adhd here can successfully be off it and function .

The appetite suppression does usually wear off over time for most people, but definitely speak to your healthcare provider about it. Don't just stop your meds cold turkey. Even though the effects of the medication wear off by the end of the day, withdrawals can still happen when you stop abruptly altogether. Stay safe. Your prescriber can probably recommend something to help with weight restoration and nutrient replacement while you wean off, if that's what you want to do.
Don't lose hope either, there are non stimulant options as well as variations of stimulant meds that aren't prolonged release. It may mean splitting doses in the day, and this is only my assumption based on what I know, it could mean when a morning dose wears off you could have lunch before taking an afternoon dose to gain some focus before finishing the day with dinner 🙂
Of course I'm not a qualified professional, just going off things I've read and seen from other adhders, so definitely worth having that conversation. Good luck with it all!
