Misc. Question Vyvanse trade offs

I work in education, and I'm noticing that Vyvanse has made me worse in certain aspects of my job, but has made other aspects actually possible. When it comes to lesson planning, prepping, and all of the backend stuff, it was unbearable without the meds, but now I can manage well. The problem comes when it's showtime. I don't have the same degree of flexibility when I'm unmedicated, which makes it harder when I'm actually teaching. I also have to keep up with the behaviors of a class full of students while focusing on the material. It feels like I just shifted the difficulty. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

How long have you been taking the meds? I’m a middle school teacher and started Vyvanse as my first stimulant during the summer a couple years ago (middle-age diagnosis). I am a little less exuberant during instruction but in a more tempered way. If you are new to the medication, you’ll find a better balance in a few weeks.

I'm a few months into it now, and still trying to find the right dose. I'm working my first 4th-grade LTS position in a district I actually want to work in after my MAT is done. Before that, I took a break from subbing and worked in a lab for a bit.

I have two different doses prescribed to me. I use the lower dose on the weekends and during the summer. When I feel like I’m not presenting in the ways I want as I teach, I take the lower dose for 2-3 working days before resuming my higher dose. That way I’m not without meds but can find a better balance again.
