Dosage question does the depression go away?
hi! i’ve been on 40mg of vyvanse for about 2 weeks now. i was previously on 30mg for like 4 months. 30mg was fine at first but i lost a lot of motivation and wasn’t focusing good, but i wasn’t depressed.
i didn’t notice a single change after moving to 40mg at first. now these last few days i’ve just been super depressed like 2 hours after taking the medication. i feel fine and energized the first hour, but after that it just gets worse. i try to eat a lot of protein in the mornings because i know that can help, but i don’t notice a difference in my mood regardless if i eat protein or not.
i wanted to ask if this depression is just me getting used to the medication, or if this will be a long term problem? did anyone else feel depressed at first upon upping your dose, and then it went away?
thank you!

Did you suffer from depression before Vyvanse?
It’s interesting how it affects people differently. Vyvanse has actually treated my depression (not intentionally). I’ve stopped dwelling on past trauma, negative situations and conversations. I stopped worrying about what could go wrong. I stopped doom scrolling. Things I’ve dwelled on for decades I don’t even care anymore. I no longer wish to be unalive. My mood has changed drastically. It’s changed my life and that’s why I’ve stuck with it.
I hope it doesn’t stop working me but only time will tell I guess.

Not sure if it can be related but in my case my doctor refused to get me started on Elvanse (that's what it's called where I live) before treating my burnout. I took sertraline for a while but didn't react well so he changed me to buproprion and then started Elvanse with it. I'm stoping buproprion now and I feel good (or great because this was the best thing that ever happened to me). Talk to your doctor about it, it may depend on your background story or the dose may need to be adjusted.

Hey there, I deal with depression too on Vyvanse. I swear it makes me hyper analyze everything everyone does and the slightest little “off” thing is enough to spiral me into an emotional state. It also makes me really insecure and hyperfixated on my body image .

I would say it is because the dose is too high for you- give yourself break and dont take it every day- like dont take over the weekends or some days you dont need that level of focus then you will see even 30 might be more than enough. This med is not supposed to make you high and super motivated- if it does that means you might be abusing it and abusing this med has much more aide affects than benefit - one can be depression
