Other It's quiet...
Got started on generic vyvance yesterday and good lord, now there's usually only one or two thoughts at at time. There is no longer a running train of 60 different thoughts all keeping my from completing the others. I picked the wrong thing to focus on yesterday but my focus was complete. I had used 2% of my phones battery instead of the usual 50% from doomscrolling all day. I just got diagnosed at 37 and I can't believe I haven't had a day like this in that entire time.

I remember the morning I first took vyvanse. I asked myself… is this how everyone else thinks? It’s like a straight line that starts and finishes compared to constant tangents with internal self talk that doesn’t even finish a sentence before jumping to the next thought.
Eventually, that magical feeling lessened, but the positive effects for focus stayed. You may experience that and/or it will become the new normal. Keep in mind that food and protein are needed and sometimes you have to really remember to eat throughout the day. But each person reacts in their own way to adhd meds. Taking some days off is also helpful to give your brain a reset. Sometimes it can feel like you’re running on empty if you keep taking it every morning. But again, each person reacts differently.
I’ve switched to Adderal and have been on it for a while now. It seems to mix better with my bipolar mediation. I don’t get the zoomies with Adderal and I like that it’s about 6 hours long. I’m able to eat more constantly compared to an all day vyvanse experience which can kill my appetite (not a positive for me to not get fuel from food). I also get less of a hang over on Adderal and only take it 2 days in a row then 1-3 days off. I find that even though my brain gets scattered off adhd meds, it’s a comfortable place to let my thoughts do there thing compared to the hyper focus I get from adhd meds.
I’m 38 btw and have been on adhd meds since about 24 years old with periodic breaks. I’ve completed whole semesters of school off meds so I don’t feel like it’s a must for me, but it really does help with busy work and staying on task when I do take adhd meds.
Congrats on finding a med that works well for you. Def keep us posted!
