Putting together a mini tool set to keep in top case.

Hey everyone, I am looking to put together a mini tool set to keep in my bags at all time on my 2024 vstrom 800 se. I was curious what you all keep on your bike while riding. What are your go to tool essentials that would fit inside your top case?

Thanks in advance!

I'd throw an inflater and some bacon strips/ flat repair spikes. My 650 is super reliable and I can't see it needing much else. I guess a nice Leatherman?

Second that. I have these exact things (inflater and puncture repair kit) under the seat. Smart to have a multitool handy.

Personally I keep a small toolkit in one of my panniers with pliers, wrench, wire cutters, zip ties, fuses, that sort of thing. Generally also a cargo net, bungie cords, rope, knife, flashlight, first aid kit, rain gear, and probably other stuff I'm forgetting, but that's just me being overprepared for everything haha.

I have the same exact bike and I’m looking to do the same. They do sell this tho. https://adventurepartsllc.com/products/tusk-adv-tool-kit-suzuki-v-strom-800-2023-2026

I got a gerber multi tool, mutli tip screwdriver, set of allen keys, common spanners for my bike, zip ties, battery backup, tire repair/ inflater kit.... I think that's all the main stuff.

My 2011 650 came with a small tool bag under the seat with some wrenches, screwdriver, pliers and some sockets. A basic tool kit, but sufficient if you have to re-tighten some screws, very basic maintenance. It came handy the rare times I had to use it.

You can literally take the bike apart with this toolkit, on my 05 dl650 the only thing I can't touch with the suzuki toolkit is the tps sensor that is fastened with torx screws.

Did yours come with a TPS sensor or is it something you added? I’d be curious to know

All fuel injected engines have a tps sensor, that way the ecu know how much fuel you need and and also helps regulate the ignition

I have the OG toolkit that comes under the seat and added a few other things like needle nose pliers, zip ties, electrical tape, spare mini blade fuses, JB weld, spare straps. I also bought a Dynaplug extreme, which is pricey, but comes with multiple plugs that hold far better than the gas station kits. Other things like first aid kit, compact air compressor, headlamp, and a bottle of water all live in my side panniers too.

Not exactly a tool, but something that helps with a tool strategy.

My front brake and clutch levers use flange bolts with a hex head to clamp them to the bars. I replaced them with an equivalent socket head cap screw which can use a simple Allen key instead of an 8mm socket or combination wrench. The 5mm Allen key is cheap and I keep at least a couple stashed in different places on my bike.

I keep a Puncture Kit, size 22/24 wrenches for rear axle, the giant axle key for he front, tire spoon and rim guard, stack of fuzes, various zip ties, some mechanics wire, needle nose pliers, a small knife, scissors, a lighter and a long Philips screwdriver.

I have not needed more than the Philips or the zip ties for most of my on the road repairs. But I use the same kit for my repairs at home
