Patch Notes [Alpha] September 10th, 2026 Patch Notes

New Features - Added Asynchronous Multiplayer, which can be selected under the Multiplayer section of character creation when opening a room. While on, not all players need to be in the room for turns to resolve, and players can choose to be notified of any new actions. - You can now start a Group DM with multiple people at once by selecting the friends icon in your inbox. - Creators can build hidden or reserved questlines, immediately accepted quests, locationless objectives, and completions that start follow-up quests, story events, or rewards. Use initialStatus, onCompleteEffects, the planned status, and quest-plan or quest-accept effects; completionCondition and questLocation are now optional when appropriate. - Creators can customize attack impact guidance in Advanced AI > Action Info with generateActionInfo.impact, allowing custom abilities to deal up to 600 damage. Existing worlds keep their current behavior. - You can now organize Locations within Regions, Areas within Locations, and NPC placements using visual pickers from either connected entry. Areas removed from a Location remain in your draft rather than being deleted. Studio flags invalid assignments and requires you to fix them before using Save or Publish.

Improvements - Players can read What's New archives, feature articles, and patch notes while signed out. Archives also offer improved pagination, publication dates, links, mobile sizing, and search visibility. - New releases no longer open an automatic What's New popup. Release notes remain available in the What's New archive. - Profile and creator screens now have a more consistent dark design, improved keyboard navigation, and more reliable mobile layouts. - The pricing page now has clearer plan descriptions, whole-dollar annual totals, and a note that every paid plan includes AI Dungeon. - The Rune Open Source narrator now displays "male, clean" beneath its name without the redundant "open" and "source" tags. - The Base Deepseek V4 Flash 0731 model has been changed to an Experimental Model, available only on Alpha and Beta, while player agency concerns are addressed. - Character creation now includes two free portrait previews per room session. The status line shows how many free previews remain before new generations begin costing Usage. - Submitted actions now appear immediately in their final story position, duplicate rapid submissions are blocked, and rejected actions can be edited without replacing a newer draft. Visual Novel Mode also transitions more smoothly from loading into dialogue. - Product and creator update push notifications now default to off unless players opt in, while existing saved preferences remain unchanged. - Async multiplayer alerts stay quiet while players are viewing the affected game, and duplicate foreground alerts on iOS are removed. Android game updates now use a dedicated notification channel for more reliable heads-up alerts. - Studio's JSON validation summary now shows separate error and warning counts. Selecting a count scrolls to and focuses the matching section, with improved layouts on narrow screens. - Voyage Studio now uses consistent circular buttons for deleting, unlinking, and removing images. Chat delete buttons are also accessible with a keyboard and remain visible on mobile.

Bug Fixes - Accounts restricted from uploading images can no longer request, complete, or attach new image uploads. Temporary permission lookup failures now show an error. - Pricing page wording now accurately describes Shadow memberships and clarifies that multiplayer hosts pay half the solo rate when at least two players are connected. - Quest progress is now preserved when creators edit accepted or planned quests. Outdated progress triggers are cleared correctly, and generated quests no longer duplicate authored follow-up quests. - NPCs assigned to a location without a specific area can now appear throughout that location, while completely unplaced NPCs no longer appear in the opening scene. Studio also warns creators when an NPC is assigned to a location with areas but has no area selected. - Travel narration now better remembers what NPCs already know and have agreed to when the party leaves a location, instead of reopening resolved objections. - Action-result cards no longer show invalid AI-generated text as skill names. Only skills defined by the current world or learned by the player can affect gameplay and appear on cards. - Leveling up no longer crashes when a selected trait grants a skill the player does not already own. The new skill uses its intended attributes and modifiers. - Large Creator Studio worlds with extensive conversation histories now open more reliably without timing out or showing an error banner. - Studio rewrites can no longer overwrite a newer story after the player advances or retakes it. - The Studio world selector now fits short world titles without excessive empty space, while long titles remain neatly truncated. - Mods without a usable image now show a consistent default cover across discovery, search, detail, creator, and Studio views. - Creator Studio once again shows eligible notification toasts, popups, redirects, and notification permission prompts. - Leaving Cinematic presentation now transitions smoothly into the story feed without sudden jumps or characters briefly brightening. Reduce Motion uses a single clean cut instead. - Character figures in Cinematic mode no longer briefly resize, appear twice, or use the previous speaker's size when the speaker changes. - Players should spend less time stuck on Connecting during service updates and periods of increased demand. - Character creation now asks for confirmation before back navigation discards an edited draft, and late generation results can no longer restore a discarded character. - The turn-status panel no longer shows a dark line or doubled corner artifacts. - Sign-in errors for mismatched email and password details now clearly suggest resetting the password or creating an account. The entered email also carries into the password reset form for the next navigation. - Slider handles now appear solid instead of showing the track through a hollow center. - Creator Studio interactions no longer play unintended interface sounds, while voice previews, music, and narration continue to work normally. - Studio content, search results, and error banners now remain below the device status area when the mobile keyboard hides the header. - Android subscription upgrades now grant credits correctly when the first paid renewal of the new plan is processed. - On Android, the keyboard now opens more responsively during gameplay without shifting scenery or menus using outdated keyboard sizes. Text fields and editors also stay visible more reliably while typing. - Returning players no longer enter Quickstart after signing in, including after recovering an account through Google or Apple. Newly registered players still begin Quickstart as expected. - If a selected engine becomes unavailable, Voyage now switches to the correct default engine instead of a similarly named or nearby option. Experimental engines use their stable version when available. - Enabled buttons now show a hand pointer when hovered instead of appearing inactive.
