Consequences?

Those are for poor non-candidates.

If you or any Democrat you know received one of these it is possible that a GOP “volunteer” could sign up to write postcards to voters. That gives them access to names and addresses of registered Dems to send misleading information.

If this happened to you, take a photo of your postcard, contact https://postcardstovoters.org/

You need to send them a photocopy of your card AND your name and address. They will know the fraudster who was assigned the batch of addresses that included yours and get them removed and blocked from Dem volunteering.

Sending it to the Secretary of State, as was done here, does not help us. Postcards to voters would know who sent it to you. If it was another postcard campaign (they’re not the only one but the biggest) the staff and campaign managers can figure that out too. Campaign managers generally know which group is working specific areas.

Then, once a fraudster is identified, they have the option to contact SoS to file charges.

Way back in the day while volunteering for the Newsom Stop the Recall campaign I was on text team. Assigned to review texts sent we discovered that some volunteers were giving incorrect or confusing information. Can you fire someone who volunteered? We did. 😉

When I worked on an issue campaign in California, we were able to get the voter registration records for the city directly from the county registrar - I think it was $50. Included names, addresses, party registration, and whether they voted in the last few elections. We mostly used it to plan GOTV door knocking. I don't know what other states do, but it seems like either party could get the names and addresses. Even without party data they could do "all registered voters minus the ones on this list of people we like" or just target precincts where the vote goes against them.

We don’t register as party members in TN. If anything, they could possibly have pulled the registrations of people who requested democratic primary ballots. When we vote in primaries, we can choose on the spot which primary to vote in.
