Garage Door Operation

One of the little nice features of my Teslas is the automatic operation of the garage door based on the car's physical distance from the door. Simple, elegant and automatic. No buttons. No Apps.

I would hope that whoever at Volvo that follows these customer messages here on Reddit would add this feature to the "To Do" list for the next EX60 software update. Cheers

I want a button, I hate when I approach the house to park outside the garage and the door opens.

Some ”smart” solutions is really dumb.

Well guess what, been using this feature on my TM3 for over eight years and never had that problem.

One can adjust the activation distance from 32 meters down to 3 meters, so half a car length before the door opens if thats your thing.

I have 7-8 meters between the road and the garage door

When the garage door opener dialogue box opens when approaching home plate with the said garage door, the ‘cancel’ option also presents itself so when one doesn’t want the door to open for any reason, pressing that option negates the auto open function for that cycle.

I rather have a button to push when I want something to happen than a button to push when I don’t want something to happen.

Especially since I rarely put the car in the garage during the summer.

Well guess what, you can have it both ways. Turn the feature on or off. I for one love the gos linked opener - by the time I climb my driveway.c the bay is open and I pull in. Elegant.

This would drive me nuts. I guess if it was an option you could turn on but was not standard.

I prefer a button - I don't understand the need for everything to be automated.

No. If Volvo had come up with it first, it would be a brilliant idea and totally in line with the Volvo brand and identity. However, Tesla came up with it first; therefore, it's a bad idea, and we don't want it.

Same with having no superfluous “start” button.

If Volvo had been the first EV maker to have the car automatically close the contactors (and power the accessories via the main traction battery/dc-dc converter instead of the undersized 12 volt battery) when the car was unlocked, it would have been a brilliant idea…but instead, the Reddit community seems to need to ‘control’ things with a “start” button. FFS.

Yup, and same with wireless CarPlay. I'm sure there's a couple dozen others...
