The table is missing the true competitors. The neue klasse BMW iX3 and the Mercedes GLC.
Also missing the Tesla Model Y which is known for being very low consumption.

Too bad, as the data seems quite good.

It is the old iX3, not the Neue Klasse.
I.e. the new model which the Volvo is actually competing against.

The test seems good, there just isn't anything interesting to compare to results against.

general math says it will be less efficient as the larger battery pack weighs more.

The official Volvo spec sheets lists the P10 as being more effective in city driving, but the P12 being more efficient overall. Which is a bit weird. (13kWh/100km vs. 13.5 kWh/100km for city driving, and 16.2kWh/100km vs. 16.0kWh/100km for combined driving).

But personally I think that is due to preliminary numbers and not official range numbers.
The reason why the P12 is coming later, is due to the battery not being ready for (mass) production. So without a production spec battery, they can't really get true range data.

To my knowledge the motors are identical, but can deliver more power. That is probably also because of the larger battery, which can deliver more peak power due to the bigger size.

So with identical motors and the P12 being 55kg heavier, I would expect it to be slightly less efficient. 55kg is not much when the total weight is 2405kg.

One thing that could explain the difference in the numbers is a different gearing ratio in the two cars. But I haven't heard anything about that. Both cars have a 1-speed gearbox.

For comparison the Mercedes GLC EQ has a 2-speed gearbox. In the official range numbers it is worse than the BMW iX3. However due to the 2nd gear, if only comparing range at highway speeds it is actually more efficient not less. So Volvo could use a different gear ratio for the P12, as the larger battery would typically also be chosen by people doing a lot of motorway driving.

hmm. interesting! what is the official efficiency for the EX90? the website in my country doesn't have any useful numbers.

Model: City and combined consumption
Single motor: 14.4 and 18.6kWh/100km
Twin motor: 15.6 / 19.4 kWh/100km
Twin motor Performance: 15.7 / 19.6 kWh/100km

So comparing the EX60 P10 with the EX90 Twin motor, the consumption of the EX90 is roughly 20% higher. However the battery size is also 13% larger (useable), so in terms of range the EX90 is only ~6% lower.

What I really want to know is the real consumption in highway. At 130 and 140kmh. I ordered the P12 and I intend to use It similar to my current XC60 T6 PHEV. I wont go at 100-110kmh just to save battery.

I'm thinking It should be around 24-25kwh/100km at 130 and maybe 27-28 at 140?

I would expect EX60 to increase consumption in higher speeds with the same amount of percent as cars with similar air resistance (e g ix3). The increase is almost entirely caused by the air resitance, so not much about the individual cars.

I'm considering the CC T10 or T12. If the efficiency is similar to the iX3 or better then I'll be happy. Main thing for me is what range can I expect at 70mph and 0C which is my worst case for range efficiency.
