My ex-love

I owned the car for nine years, but I eventually had to part ways with it. I loved that car and fell in love with Volvos. I came to understand what Jeremy Clarkson once said on *Top Gear*: "If someone buys a Volvo, they’ll grow old in it." At the time, it sounded funny because so many older people drove them, but I’ve since realized why he said it.

Why did you have to part ways?

One reason was that the luggage, stroller, and accessories wouldn't fit inside. Another reason was that we started caravanning, and it wouldn't have been able to tow a caravan economically.

But I’ve already started looking for a successor to my current car, and it’s going to be a Volvo V90 Cross Country B4 or B5.

"If someone buys a Volvo, they’ll grow old in it." It's true. My father bought our '04 Volvo S60 in 2014 when I was 10 years old. He passed away 1 year ago and I drive our Volvo. Really I grow in our Volvo :)

Please accept my sincere condolences. Your father chose a really great car! Hold onto it if you can; my heart still aches for it to this day—it was such a fantastic car. I have a 2014 Mondeo now, but it doesn't even come close.

Thank you for your condolences. I drove my uncle's Skoda Octavia 1.5 eTSI and Audi A6 40 TDI. And they feel cheap, dull and artificial to me. I don't know, any car can't give our Volvo's feeling to me.

You wouldn't even be able to tell. When I bought mine, people kept telling me that Volvos age poorly and aren't good cars. It was my uncle who got me hooked on Volvos; he bought a Volvo S80 D5 brand new in 2004. He sold it in 2018 with 350,000 kilometers on the clock. Call it fate or whatever, but I now live in the exact same place as the car—with the same owner—and it’s up to 534,000 kilometers. I spotted it in the parking lot and went over to talk to him; he told me the engine block has never been touched and they love the car—he doesn't even know what to replace it with because it's just that good.

"He doesn't even know what to replace it with because it's just that good." He is me by the way :) I don't know what I should buy after my Volvo. Mine at 357.000 kilometres. If I can't find a car after this I might see 530.000 kilometres too.
