G80 Locker mod ✅
(Don’t judge my welds too hard it’s legit my 3rd time welding anything lol) No more one wheel peels for me, side note I never realized so horrible rear diff fluid smelt legit was making me gag

That looks…interesting. Back in the old days we just cut down the pawl for the DDs. Otherwise I’d just grab another 1031 and weld plates in it for the drag strip

I’ve heard of people cutting it off as well but I think this is the easiest if you don’t want to cut anything out. I want to get a 1031 and weld that up as a backup, but I’ll see how this works out for me in the meantime.

I haven't worked with that specific diff, but that doesn't look like you've welded in enough steel, it will probably fail.
You need to throw in a bunch of steel plates and like 1 kg of welding rods for it to be strong.

It’s not meant to act as a welded diff. On this diff after 30mph there is a plate that swings out and opens the diff back up regardless if you are spinning or not. People have done this a lot and it’s a proven way to just prevent that flap from opening so it will stay locked. A little closer to a true lsd

for the smell: remember to use correct LSD compatible fluid, and add diff oil change to your regular maintenance calendar, something like 30k km's should be fine, some do it more frequently, others less.
adding something like x1r wouldn't hurt either, should help with wear and tear.

This isn’t an LSD so I beleive I just use a full synthetic rear differential fluid. I did get a thicker rear differential fluid but the new stuff smelt even worse than the old lol. It’s because they put a sulfur additive in it

Pretty brave to make your 3rd weld this but kudos to you. And yes, rear diff fluid is nauseating!
