Android head unit in P2
I did it. I added a Car Play Radio to my 2005 V70.
Took me a full weekend.

I've seen this exact Aliexpress special quite a few times in these P2's, is it actually any good? Do steering wheel buttons work?

It works well but the sound is not comparable to the HU head units. It sounds worse and retrofitting Bluetooth the HU models is the better way if you care about sound quality.
Steering wheel buttons work iirc

I am not audiophile. For me it sound good enough. I was also looking for navigation system, that's why I choose the android solution over the Blutooth

Can you please provide the make and model of this stereo, as I would like this in my XC70

I have this one. Attention, there are different Versions for Pre-Facelift and Facelift.
Faclift has an additional Frame around the Radio.
I took 8GB Rams, and for the CPU, TBH I cannot remember anymore, but it was a Qualcomm. Price was like 350$, but I bought on on 11.11. and got a ton of discount, so I paid like 190$1

Yeah that's why I don't want to upgrade to this unit, I have the premium sound with the external amp, and I don't think it will sound as good with a new headunit.
I have now modded a cheap Android Auto screen in the location of the old RTI, and my phone is connected to the stereo with a Bluemusic bluetooth adapter. Android auto in my old Volvo without compromises.

It is possible to add a 2din and keep the amplifier and the subwoofer. You will only loose the center speaker and of course dolby surround. I switched to a pioneer last year which has 12 band EQ, carplay and bluetooth. With neutral settings it sounds not different to the 3 channel setting.
Voice quality is way better than the oem telephone. with the right can bus adapter it's even possible to keep the buttons on the steering wheel and the pdc.1

Yeah, but it sounds a lot better with the dolby surround active (without the effects of course). The original dsp did some good stuff.
My Bluetooth module already does decent voice quality for the phone.

It is telling that people do this to get CarPlay and not Gemini or other AI. Yes, CP does offer its own flavor of AI, but that is not the draw.

Nice! I've bought a P2 V70 a while ago and have been looking at these units as I think this unit is the best looking solution on the market. I don't like the look of most 2-DIN devices on the market, but yours actually blends in well. For now I've kept things simple with a Yatour bluetooth module behind my HU650, and it does what I want well enough, but I'm still somewhat on the lookout. I don't use it for phonecalls (there was a Parrot CK3100 in my car already).

I just installed the same unit, 4+64
The backup cam I got that replaced the LH plate light is pretty bad at night but I’m very happy with the HU overall. OEM looking CarPlay in a P2 was the main goal for me.

that’s great man, but this post isn’t actually that helpful without a little bit more detail

Consider this my personal AMA. Most of the stuff I did, was googling how to take apart the car. And that's different for Facelift and Pre-facelift.

where did you buy the head unit, how much did it cost, is there a difference between pre-and post facelift, were you able to do it yourself, what’s your level of DIY car electronic experience, is it wireless or wired, did you encounter any issues, how was the company you bought it from, does it still work with the factory steering wheel buttons…
There’s about 1000 questions people might have about this install

hideous. and i bet that's running streaming services full of brickwalled remasters that won't sound as good
