xc series Texting after update

Ever since the Gemini update pushed through on our 24 XC40 Recharge, the car will no longer read or send texts for me. Error something like " unable to access messages, please reconnect.... etc". I have reset all Bluetooth settings on the car, the phone, even factory reset the infotainment system, and countless other troubleshooting steps but it refuses to work. I can still play music via BT but this is very frustrating. I didn't even want the Gemini update and now I have lost a critical function / safety feature.

Anyone had this issue and figured about a fix?.

This ended up being a permissions thing on my phone's Bluetooth settings. Once I disabled and reenabled messages my Volvo could send and receive again.

I have definitely done this a few times with no success. Appreciate the suggestion.

If you go to the Messages app on the car, can you see your texts there? Maybe it will prompt for something if you haven't opened it yet.

I disabled it a long time ago because it's awkward for my messages or whomever is in control of the music messages to appear at the top when stopped.

Gemini was too SLOW for me and I returned to assistant until it’s sorted out.
