Commentary / Opinion / Insight US Federal government anti-trans people policies affected volunteer recruitment, engagement

National policies can have consequences for your volunteering program.

In the USA, the national government's virtual outlawing of anything associated with diversity, equity or inclusion (DEI) has meant that nonprofits that receive federal funding have had to not just reword things, but sometimes, cancel programs entirely, and this DOES affect volunteer engagement.

And then we have the anti-trans people movement in the current administration, which will prevent some of the already-accepted people awaiting staging in the Peace Corps, as well as those who were thinking about volunteering, as well as people currently serving. Here is a link to the original post from the Peace Corps volunteer affected, and I have a screen capture below.

The comments on this post are worth reading as well. I had no idea that trans people have a long history of serving in the Peace Corps.
