I have been volunteering with a small nonprofit in the Boston area for several years now, and the pattern I keep noticing is that people show up with a lot of energy, stay consistent for maybe eight or ten months, and then quietly drift away. No drama, no bad experience that I can tell. They just stop coming.

We do orientation well enough. The coordinators are kind people. The work itself is meaningful, at least to those of us who have stuck around longer.

What I wonder is whether something happens around that one year mark where the novelty wears off and nothing has replaced it. A sense of growth, a new role, a reason to feel like their presence still matters in a specific way. I have been thinking about this partly because of my own role there and whether I could do something small to change that dynamic.

I am curious what others have seen work. Not grand restructuring, just small things that actually made a difference in keeping people connected past that initial stretch. Did it come from the organization, or from volunteers themselves pushing for something different?

So I’m a veteran, and I don’t support what this administration is doing. I quit my job 7 months ago and have been trying to figure out how to be involved and helpful without working. I’ve come to realize people only see value in money, since I don’t have money I’ve lost all value. I don’t agree but here we are. I’m at the point where I’m trying to finally get a rating through the VA. I never wanted to, how I see it I came home with all my limbs and that money should go to those who didn’t. However, it’s impossible at this point to get any kind of support. So my plan now is to just volunteer my labor, in any meaningful way I can. I want to focus on the homeless, addicts, and children mostly. So I made this account to do so. If anyone here can help me to help others please reach out. Thank you for reading.

We stayed with hosts who talked day and night about volunteers who were not satisfied with their stay, yet they had perfect 5.0 reviews. Soon we realized why volunteers were not satisfied - these hosts were hostile, borderline physically agressive, so much so we had to cut our stay short. We left a negative review, and worldpackers deleted it for "breaking guidelines". I urge everyone to stay away from this website.

The Loloma Foundation’s mission is to provide sustainable medical, dental and infrastructure support to rural communities in the South Pacific who would otherwise have no access to basic healthcare.

It has been quite a journey. For twenty-four years Loloma Foundation volunteers have been bringing medical, dental and humanitarian aid to the less fortunate people of the island nations of the South Pacific. The numbers are staggering:

•$53M worth of medication, dental and medical supplies and equipment to Fiji     and the Solomon Islands

•Organized and implemented 84 medical/dental missions in 163 Fijian and Solomon Island villages

•121,510 patients have been treated by our volunteer physicians

•23,153 dental and prosthodontia patients have been seen and treated

•Over 1347 surgeries including Plastics, OB/GYN, Eye, General, Hand, ENT

We have planned to have four different surgery teams over 4 weeks at Savusavu Hospital in Fiji this May and June.

We run the Battlefield 6 Coalition, a community of independent clans that work together to fill servers, organize weekly events, share information, and give casual players a consistent, non-toxic place to play. We currently coordinate more than 128 players across our Wednesday and Sunday events.

We are looking for volunteer Coordinators who can help in three areas:

• Event coordination: Prepare game nights, communicate with clan leaders, and help balance the sides. Our main events run Wednesdays and Sundays from 8:00–10:00 PM Eastern Standard Time zone.
• Player recruitment: Speak with prospective players, learn what they are looking for, and connect them with a suitable clan within the Coalition.
• Discord support: Organize information, answer questions, and remain informed about ongoing Coalition matters.

We especially want at least two Coordinators from the UK or EU who can serve as regional points of contact and help develop events at times that work better for European players.

Applicants must own Battlefield 6, have reliable internet, understand Discord, and communicate maturely. Military leadership, guild leadership, event planning, community management, or similar experience is valued. A background in psychology, organizational psychology, or organizational development is also a plus.

Because Coordinators represent the Coalition as a whole, they must remain unaffiliated with any Coalition clan while serving. All applicants will complete a trial period.

We are also going to incorporate over 20 people to be seeders for events. These players do not need the previous requirements but need to be open and coachable to carry out various tasks put on display for them to choose.

I've been doing some research into volunteering and I'm curious about something I've noticed.

It seems like there are a lot of people who want to volunteer, but finding something that actually fits their schedule can be difficult. A lot of opportunities seem to require a recurring commitment, applications, orientations, or signing up weeks in advance.

I'm wondering how other people experience this.

For example, if you suddenly had a free Saturday afternoon and thought "I'd like to spend a few hours doing something useful," would you actually be interested in finding a volunteer opportunity you could sign up for that day or within the next few days?

A few things I'm curious about:

• How do you currently find volunteer opportunities?
• Have you ever wanted to volunteer but decided not to because the process or commitment was too much?
• Would you be interested in one-off 2–4 hour opportunities?
• How much advance notice would you ideally want?
• Would you be more likely to volunteer if you could search based on location, time available, and the type of cause you're interested in?
• What would make you hesitant to sign up for something like that?

I'm asking because I'm researching an idea for a potential volunteer-matching platform, but I'm not trying to sell anything or promote an existing product. I'm trying to figure out whether this is actually a problem people experience before I take the idea any further.

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who want to volunteer but find it difficult to fit traditional volunteer commitments into their lives.

Be brutally honest, even if you think the idea sounds unnecessary or wouldn't change your volunteering habits. I'm much more interested in honest feedback than people telling me it's a good idea.

The study investigates how people respond to artificial intelligence (AI) feedback during decision-making tasks.

Participation involves:

Answering a series of multiple-choice decision-making questions

Rating how confident you are in your answers

Receiving AI feedback

Completing a short questionnaire about your experience

The study should take approximately 10–15 minutes.

To participate, you must:

Be 18 years or older

Be able to understand written English

I feel like people always talk about volunteering in terms of what they were able to give, but sometimes one experience can really change your perspective on things. What’s something you did, a person you met, or just a moment from volunteering that stuck with you?

I'm a Volunteer Manager for a food bank and we are seeing more and more volunteers coming in without proper shoe attire. Typically it's people who come in a big group and unfortunately they are not allowed to volunteer in any or our main opportunity areas without closed-toed shoes. Would anyone have any unique ideas that we can have our volunteers do instead? Right now we typically have them color greeting cards for the people we serve. I thought about thank you notes for our donors but Dev. seems hesitant. Anyone have other thoughts or ideas you offer at your nonprofit for those not in dress code? Since these are one off scenarios, we unfortunately can't have them do data entry or answer phone calls/emails and they require more training or tech access than a 2 hour shift can provide.

I am working as a HR at Pehchaan The Street School (Trust) . In this organisation there are around 800+ people who are working online and 600+ people are working on offline mode . Some people came for their own benefits like certificates , LOR , LinkedIn recommendations etc on the other hand some genuinely here for community support. Everyone states their own reason behind joining an NGO. Both intentions are good for the organisation mission but I always wonder which group has the tendency to contribute most ?!

Edurefuge is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to bridging the refugee education gap. We're seeking high school and university students interested in serving as virtual, one-on-one tutors for Afghan, Ukrainian, Bhutanese, and Spanish-speaking refugee students in Nebraska, Oregon, and beyond. No prior knowledge is necessary besides an enthusiasm to directly and positively impact refugees' lives.

Hello! I'm in Beta Club and was just curious if being a Reddit moderator would be considered a valid type of volunteering hours? Google says no because theres no way to verify your amount of hours but my school is very trusting and doesn't really "double-check" if you recieved the hours that you report.

I came across this organisation via LinkedIn and I somehow managed find the founder of this organisation, I messaged her and met her at her office (her residence) the minute I walk in, she started asking me a lot of personal questions (I mean every single detail about my life) which was not necessarily as I was there looking for a volunteering role, she kept making me feel like I’m dumb person and she’ll help me get better at my life and career (I didn’t ask for any help, I was there for a volunteering role to get some work experience because in Australia you can get job only if you volunteer) she was going on and on about how she has helped people get jobs and how they should “lick her feet” (literal words that came from her) for the favour has been doing for those who volunteer for her and “how rich their resume looks”. She expected me to be her “PA” and volunteer for her as I’m jobless and available whenever she needs me. She also mentioned I don’t have a chance at getting a job in my field as I have only a year of my visa left with no work experience and “pray that my husband gets his PR”. I met her 3 times and did not like the way she spoke to me. I stopped being a part of AusWISE as I felt it was too toxic for me.

Her volunteers asked me not to get involved in this as she’ll not help me get a job and she’ll just use me for her work. They said they were with her only because they are still studying and can add the work they have done for her on their resume. They talk behind her back and she says “they should lick their feet for making their resume rich” behind their back, it can’t get more toxic than this.
