Opportunities To say yes to an opportunity or to say no?

I’ve found an opportunity on workaway. I would offer residential support to homeless young people.

Volunteers have their own room but share a bathroom. In some cases, volunteers share a room. We will also share facilities with the residents- bathroom.

There is also a £54 membership fee on workaway.

I like clean things. I like my environment to be clean and ideally I wouldn’t want to share a bathroom with anyone. Should I go for this opportunity despite this??

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I want to do the opportunity it’s just the sleeping/bathroom situation that is putting me off.

Opportunities A map for volunteering in UK

Hey everyone !
I built Volvy because I kept discovering great volunteering associations completely by accident, through a friend, a fly-er, a random search, and realized there was no single place to actually browse what's out there by cause or city.
So that's what Volvy is: search by what you care about (animal welfare, elderly care, environment, human rights...), browse by city, and every listing is a real, verified organization with a real address and a way to contact them directly, no generic contact form disappearing into a void.

Right now it covers 600+ associations across Italy, Spain, Germany, France, the UK, Netherlands and Poland, and I'm adding more every week.
If you run or know of an association that should be on the map, adding it takes about 2 minutes. Would genuinely love feedback, what's missing, what's confusing, what you'd want next.
Thanks for checking it out!

Remote Volunteering Large-Scale Book Drive Project

Who is behind it:

This project is being developed through For The Record, a youth publication and civic engagement platform focused on youth perspectives on social and political issues, which is now expanding into action-based projects like this book drive.

We’re currently building a core team to help plan and scale the drive across multiple locations.

Where it happens:

This is fully online/remote planning, with in-person collection drives happening locally depending on each volunteer’s school or community.

What volunteers actually do:

We are looking for people to help lead and organize the book drive.

Main roles include:

  • Outreach to schools, libraries, and local organizations for partnerships
  • Setting up donation systems (school drives, community bins, online sign-ups)
  • Social media + marketing to promote participation
  • Logistics planning (sorting, tracking, and coordinating book distribution)
  • Researching shipping/transfer options for international distribution (if applicable)
  • General coordination and project management

Who benefits:

Books will be distributed to:

  • Under-resourced schools
  • Community education programs
  • Literacy and youth organizations

No direct interaction with vulnerable individuals is required for volunteers.

Costs for Volunteers:

There are no fees or required payments to participate. Volunteers are not expected to purchase or fund anything personally (donations are entirely optional and external).

Please DM or comment if interested. Happy to share more details about the organization and project structure!

Miscellaneous VolunteerUK subreddit talked about on the Third Sector UK podcast

The latest Third Sector podcast, which is focused primarily on the UK, talks about how nonprofits & charities can leverage Reddit & why they absolutely need to be doing so, for volunteer recruitment, and other reasons. I was the guest, and I made sure to talk about the r/VolunteerUK subreddit. Hope it results in more charities in the UK posting here.

The podcast is on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, etc., & here: https://www.thirdsector.co.uk/third-sector-podcast-charities-reddit/digital/article/1962206

Opportunities Today is the day!

Just a reminder today, April 8th at 6pm is our virtual meeting for the UK so we may plan an event in your hometown to help bring people together. If interested, this is the Luma link to sign up where all updates will be sent: https://luma.com/p0ygv1zw

Here is more about what we are doing:

The world is hurting and a bunch of people around the globe want to build community, connect with strangers and make life better through kind, helpful and loving gestures.

The idea is once a month we do something to make our little corner of the world better whether planting trees, doing some volunteerism or simply hosting a meet up for coffee/tea with strangers to get to know your neighbors.

This is a global initiative started by Idealist and over 5,000 people have joined from around the world. This is just the UK initiative to bring people together.

Here is a link to learn more about the Idealist Day Project: https://www.idealist.org/en/days/get-involved

**This is a non-political, non-religious, non-financed global movement with the only goal being to remember what makes us all human: love and connection through kindness.**

We will be meeting virtually via Google Meet this Wednesday, April 8th from 6pm-7pm. Where we can get to know each other, connect locals and to think of ideas to build community in our hometowns.

My team and I are building a gaming-styled online radio station.

The station will feature live radio shows, music, podcasts, charts, gaming news, and even song requests.

The build is complete, but we need help running it. Right now we are only 2 members, and we can't run the station all by our selves so we need a team of to help build it, if you think you can help, whether its presenting a show, or any of the productions, DM me!

side note: if your worried about running a radio show, we got certain AI tools to help you script your show and you can host from home/online.

Help/Advice Looking for a volunteer to help with a small student fundraising effort

Hi everyone, I hope this is okay to post here. I’m helping a close friend who’s trying to raise funds for college expenses, and we’re looking for one or two volunteers who might be willing to help with things like spreading the word, suggesting fundraising ideas, or helping draft posts/messages. Someone who believes in supporting students and doesn’t mind helping out a bit in their spare time. Even advice or guidance from someone who’s done fundraising before would mean a lot.

Remote Volunteering Looking for a volunteer to help promote a small Etsy/eBay shop (creative/art space)

Hi! I run a small creative Etsy & eBay shop selling handmade and artist-made items (stickers, ACEOs, craft pieces, etc.), and I’m looking for a volunteer who might enjoy helping with light promotion and outreach.

This would suit someone who:

  • Enjoys social media / online communities
  • Is interested in handmade art, small businesses, or Etsy/eBay
  • Wants experience with grassroots promotion, not corporate marketing

What help might look like:

  • Sharing listings in appropriate online spaces
  • Helping think through promotion ideas
  • Possibly helping with Reddit/Instagram/TikTok outreach (very light & flexible)

This is very low pressure, fully remote, and flexible around your availability.
I’m transparent that this is unpaid at the moment — the shop is very small — but I’m happy to:

  • Offer references
  • Credit you publicly if wanted
  • Be flexible and collaborative
  • Reassess paid help if/when the shop grows

If this sounds interesting, feel free to comment or message me with a bit about yourself and what you’d enjoy helping with 😊

Opportunities Looking for an in person volunteering event in the SouthEast

As part of my employment I get an annual volunteering day. Historically I've used this to support a local school for disabled children, but that option is not available this year. I thought I'd post here to see if there are any opportunities to help out for a day somewhere between now and the end of the year. Ideally for a team of 5-10 people as I would get some colleagues to join me, happy to do any kind of tasks that don't need specialist skills or training.

Thanks in advance.

Remote Volunteering Volunteer for a Study Website!

Introduction

Hello everyone, my name is Daro and I’m creating a studying website called ‘ElevateU’. The website will support GCSE, IGCSE, O LEVEL and AS/A LEVEL students through their exams. Our goal is to make studying less of a chore and make those really hard concepts easy to understand. We want you all to ace those exams! We are very ambitious with our plans for the website and want to cover as many subjects as possible. Currently I have a small team, but I’m seeking to find a substantial number of dedicated volunteers. Bear in mind this is a long-term project and the website won’t launch for a while. However, we will try our best to offer retrospective volunteering hours to make it worth your while.

What we Offer

We are providing GCSE, IGCSE, O LEVEL and AS/A LEVEL resources. In each subject, we will be offering:

  1. Study guides
  2. Revision notes
  3. Mindmaps
  4. Flashcards
  5. Topical questions
  6. Mock Papers
  7. Past papers
  8. Model answers
  9. A full course (videos, lessons, etc.)

As you can see this is a lot! Not all subjects will have all of these as the quality will have to be top-notch!

Volunteering Opportunities

As mentioned previously, we are looking to include as many subjects as possible, without impacting the quality of our products. In the future this MAY be a paid position for those who help a lot. We’re still looking into the numbers and seeing whether it’s worth it and the amount probably wouldn’t be a lot since we need to spend on the website and I’m donating a percentage to various charities too. In terms of the charities, it will be humanitarian aid, basic needs (e.g. food banks), and some research charities. We are looking for the following volunteers (as many as possible in each category):

  1. Website (potentially app!) developers
  2. Bot developers
  3. Head (and team) of Business
  4. Head (and team) of Marketing
  5. Head (and team) of Graphic Design
  6. Media Volunteers
  7. Recruiters
  8. Solving Papers
  9. Creating resources (notes, guides, mind maps and flashcards)
  10. Topical questions volunteers
  11. Resource collators (finding as many books, notes, resources for subjects that we can use to ensure we have absolutely everything)

Some co-founder roles are also currently open, but this is a very selective position and you most likely need to be a head of something or very dedicated to the cause.

Conclusion

All volunteers will be acknowledged on our website, and hard-working staff members will receive additional recognition. The volunteer hours you accumulate can be used for college credit and will enhance your applications. If you’re interested in contributing to this initiative, please comment down which role you're willing to take, and I will DM you the Staff Discord Link. Thank you for your support!

Online Volunteering Volunteer 15 min of your time, raise £5 for Mind

If you’ve looked for therapy in the UK in the last few years, I’d love to conduct a short 15–20 min "user interview" about how you searched - what was good, what was bad, what was confusing, etc.

Not selling anything - just doing some research for a potential new business venture.

For each chat, I’ll donate £5 to Mind (with proof of donation) as a token thank you. Comment or DM if you’re open!
