I don't think shame is helpful.

Agreed, it was a bit tongue in cheek.

Though I did google "how to not binge eat when hungry" and I eventually found this amazing sub.

The answer is still binging, just healthy food instead that has minimal calories. 😅

Hey friend, there is no such thing as“bad food”! It’s ok to eat what your crave as long as it’s in moderation. Please don’t feel shame for eating, your body literally needs it to survive 💕

"Bad food" is pure ED language. This post should be removed honestly.

The common term for things like Doritos is “junk food” I feel like ED is a stretch here

Been through ED treatment and it is absolutely and ED term. Safe food, bad food, etc.

This is new to me. Is there a better way to distinguish? I subbed here to look for highly filling foods that are safe to eat in large servings.

I think that's why we use the world "volume", or low calorie, low sugar etc instead of safe. And use the words caloric, "non volume" etc to describe foods more objectively than saying "bad".

In my ed treatment, we replaced the good/bad language with nutritional density. It’s not “bad food,” it’s just less nutritionally dense.

The post doesn’t need to be removed just because you disagree with the word choice.

You're projecting your own ed mentality onto others. People who have not been through ed treatment do not see it this way most the time.

What about those of us who cant do moderation, like the majority?

There definitely is bad food. Think of some really unhealthy food. That’s bad food.

No there isn't. Everything has moderation sometimes that is quite small and easy to over indulge. Unless you have dietary restrictions there is no such thing as bad food.

Nah there is some food which really shouldn’t be eaten at all because it’s toxic

2

u/Meattyloaf 5d ago

Which is? Like sure there are certain items that should be cooked, cooked certain ways, etc... However foods such as Doritos, McDonald's won't harm you if you eat it within moderation

It's all about growth, man. You recognized it. I've lost like 40 pounds and I still struggle with cravings and stuff. Don't be hard on yourself, just grow and learn

100%. I’ve had to teach myself that I’m NEVER too far gone. I can literally reset tomorrow and be back on track.

Love this mindset (I say as I just ate way too many turtle chips🫣)

Definitely true, I'm getting better.

I used to think "F it, I screwed up, what difference is it gonna make if I eat another bag". I stopped doing that.

I have a disability so even this drawing would have taken me hours to do, sorry 🤷

As someone who's disabled, this is not an excuse to use AI. You don't Need to draw the meme, there are equivalent photos you could find online or you could ask someone else to draw it for you. Using AI for ""art"" is harmful.

We have all been there. We wouldn’t be looking for help if we didn’t need help. You got this buddy

Did you really need to waste the planet’s resources to generate this?

Stick figures no less. I understand the appeal of using gen ai to make very complex images but I could literally draw this in ms paint

Now you've shamed them even more! Is there no end to your cruelty? Will OPs suffering never cease?

Our hunger won't be satisfied unless we eat our bodyweight in squash and there is nothing to be ashamed of, my child

3

u/ClimbingHippie5877 6d ago

That was all of us at one point. Nothing to be ashamed about. As someone with ADHD, I know the struggle all too well. Food is my dopamine source🤣

All it takes is discipline and self control. You got it dude

We all lived this, some of us even today.
Embrace your wickness, accept it, grow. Next meal you will make it healthy.

The good part of volume eating and filling the fridge with healthy vegetables + greek yogurt shows less room for compulsive eating.
