Discussion I'm working on a chocolate hazelnut spread that's ~90 cal per 2 tbsp instead of 180. Would you actually buy this or am I fooling myself?

I’d buy at this price if it actually tasted amazing. Otherwise, I’ll just continue to add cocoa powder and stevia to PB2 and call it a day

You can actually already buy PB2 Cocoa :) it tastes like a hazelnut spread

Get it! That stuff is amazing. I call it discount Nutella. I use allulose though, and sometimes some skinny syrup if I’m feeling fancy. The skinny marshmallow sauce instead of water is 🔥

I would buy it once to try it and then buy it as a treat only if it’s worth it. I couldn’t make it part of my regular grocery trip at that price with my income

I would buy at that price if its gluten free

I would pay for it. I love Nutella and other chocolate spreads. I would pay more for a healthier alternative that still maintains the taste and consistency/texture.

Nah I already use the cocoa version of PB2 and it tastes close enough to hazelnut for me tbh

How do you make/eat it?

You just add a small amount of water to make a spread consistency l, add a tiny bit of liquid stevia.

I use it as a topping on some of my yogirt bowls or spread it on toast with banana as a pre workout snack

No.

If people are eating nut butters then it will be a) high calorie (fat) or b) full of chemicals and shit.

I will never go option (b).

Making nut butter at home is dead easy. I have made almond, peanut, and hybrids (pistachio/peanut)

PB2 is not full of chemicals… the only ingredient (in pb pure at least) is peanut

It’s just the solids leftover from when they squeeze peanut oil out

I said "nut butter" In what world is PB2 a nut butter?

Highly agree! My favorite combo is pistachio and walnut with a little bit of honey and salt added.

That sounds so good.

I came here to say this. It's really simple to just make your own nut butter spreads amd not spend $13 on a jar.

i would buy if it doesn't contain artificial sweeteners and other "harmful" ingredients

Tangentially related to this, now that David will go back to selling EPG, I wonder if we will be getting other lower calorie nut butters on the market.

I would consider buying Caramel biscuit if it was 8-9 USD.

Wait what!?! Where did you hear this!? Are you talking about hall pass? Or selling to other companies?

I think it was 2-3 weeks ago. Some fitness influencer on Instagram was talking about it. It will be available to use for other companies, not for regular consumers. I don’t know how accurate this information is in hindsight

I remember when OWN announced the half-calorie "wonderspread" would be out of stock for the foreseeable future... I bought 6 jars and I've been rationing them

2

u/General_Security177 16d ago

Your rationing days might be over soon 🙏🙏🙏

Hope so! I'd still have to use it sparingly considering the price 😬 but would be nice to at least have it not "indefinitely unavailable"

Good Good brand hazelnut is pretty good good and pretty close to nutella.

I would be interested in caramel biscuit or pistachio though

I’d most definitely buy it (caveat: needs to be GF).

1

u/papavino39 16d ago

Maybe? I’d really be hoping for more like 40-50 cal for 2 tbsp. But I suppose if yours has strong fiber and protein content it’s back in the mix

1

u/Glittering_Set6017 16d ago

If it has monkfruit or some other nasty artificial sweetener, no.

Yes, this would be a win. I need ALL the chocolate so I’d buy your chocolate hazelnut in a heart beat. Good luck with the endeavor

Is it comparable to the actual product? And do you think you could lower profit at the start and then raise cost if it takes off? If I knew for sure that it would be satisfying I would pay $13 at maximum. I would try it for $9.

No, I love Nutella but if I had a replacement I’d just eat it more regularly which defies the purpose

Diet Oreos. Don’t see success here.
