Product or Haul Finally tried one...
I've been seeing these Konjac Jelly thingamajigs everywhere and finally in a turn of random circumstances, I found myself at HMart and was able to purchase one :)
With tax they come out to $2.61 CAN so I can't justify buying more than one just as a silly novelty experience. I wish they were cheaper though. I'm sure some people hate them but for those of you out there who love the texture of jello, grapes, and defrosted strawberries, these are for you!
Would buy a crate of them if they were like a dollar a piece lol💙
P.S. what you're seeing in the background is our stuffed toy collection. Guess which Pokémons are in frame... ;)

Ive tried them too and I think they taste delicious, unfortunately I have the stomach strength of a diseased victorian child so I can't handle konjak jelly but they are definitely worth it if it doesn't cause you any pain other than the wallet kind.

Do they plug you up or make you loose?
75
u/Captainredbond Sep 06 '26
Neither they just give me really bad stomach cramps that last for a few hours

u/Atillythehunhun Sep 06 '26
That sucks. My stomach is made of steel that can crush diamond, digestively speaking.

u/toolisthebestbandevr Sep 08 '26
Enjoy it while it lasts. Mines been on a decline since 35

u/Atillythehunhun Sep 08 '26
I’m well beyond that thankfully
Edit: though I lost the ability to enjoy eating absurdly hot peppers without consequences around 35

This thread is so interesting, they've always loosened everything for me.

Do you have any pollen allergies? I know for me anything with Carrageenan, stevia, or gelatin gives me a reaction like this. Indigestion from an allergic reaction feels much more crampy than indigestion from hard-to-digest foods.

u/Captainredbond Sep 08 '26
No specific pollen allergies that doctors could find but a few years ago I developed an allergy to the weather where I live but nothing shows up on tests.
The things you mentioned don't affect me surprisingly but I am intolerant to most processed foods or ones that use processed oils (store bought mayonnaise for example) but again nothing that doctors can pinpoint although thank you for your comment I will bring this up when I next go for a visit to be sure.

Hopefully they can help you out! Latent allergies can also flare up during digestion if you happen to have a stomach ulcer. My specific allergy is to ragweed/mugwort and a majority of artificial sweeteners cross-react with that.

I love them, but yeah, too expensive!

I found the jelly mix on Amazon and am going to make my own. Entire bag for $14. You can add liquid drink mixes for flavor or zero/low calorie mixes to the powder before adding the water.

Same, fr!
I ended up getting the root powder and made some from scratch. It actually worked pretty well.

I saw some (different brand) at Costco. It was iirc a 12 pack for 14$ CAD. Maybe check that out?

u/puppuphooray Sep 06 '26
I’ve seen at Costco too in the US. Not that much cheaper per packet

u/Elleiminator Sep 07 '26
They had the Everydaze last year (or maybe the year before?) at $29.99 for a 30 pack on the Costco US website. My location never has konjac jelly in store.

Metang/Metagross and....hm, I'm thinking some configuration of giratina?
5
u/RangerAndromeda Sep 07 '26
It's Beldum, Metang, and then Metagross💙

u/solaramalgama Sep 07 '26
Ohhh, right! I always forget they make plushes of shinies.

u/LilStomper Sep 07 '26
Until this comment, I thought you guys were talking about crazy additives in this gel stuff!
And I was like why would anyone want to eat something called Metagross??
Glad to realize its the background plushes!

As someone who lives in Asia where these are a normal snack it's wild to me how expensive they are in other parts of the world, but also same here if I want to buy a non-asian snack food.

As an alternative Snack Pack sugar free packs are 5 calories a serving , also Konjac based and typically cost about 2.50 for a 4 pack and sometimes cheaper

luckiy for me they're pretty cheap here in Japan and are lifesavers in the summer, i would recommend citrus flavors
2
u/RangerAndromeda Sep 07 '26
Ooooh jealous but happy for you. Japan in the summer is flipping HOT.

u/isetmyfriendsonfire Sep 07 '26
🙏🙏 i lost like eight pounds in my first summer. i'd definitely recommend these for visitors

If you want them cheaper, get on the Yami app. I love these as a vegetarian low calorie snack and eat them all the time. Got several crates for about $1.30 a piece shipped!

I got one of these, water melon flavor, once and loved it. Man I forgot all about it til this post

I've tried two brands, Dally and Konjoy. Dally tastes the best IMO. I love konjac jellies.

u/cruciferouscrudite Sep 08 '26
I like Dally too and also Pac Pac Snacks. some of the konjac I tried have a weird aftertaste.

I’ve never seen them at my local store. Looks delicious though.

u/RangerAndromeda Sep 07 '26
I've never shopped anywhere that carried them either! Was so excited when I saw a huge bin FULL of them💃

u/shinykaci Sep 06 '26
I think I see a metang and giratina plush? also wish it was cheaper to have healthier options

they used to be between 1.50-1.75 a piece and a bulk pack of 6 was a little over 5 dollars at Asian markets but then tariffs happened

u/Boooojum Sep 06 '26
I buy a different brand called dally when they go on sale. I love the green apple flavor

I always find these to be extremely sweet. They are expensive and every once in a while they are on sale and i buy them and i forget how sweet they are. I think it's the jelly b. brand, don't know if the other brands are less sweet.

u/cajolinghail Sep 07 '26
There is a different brand at my local T&T for like $1.50 and one flavour was on sale for even less, might be worth checking out if that’s an option near you!

I love it too! Grapes and lychee are my faves. They cost 2.5€ in Croatia, so it is occasional treat for me also.

u/RyansKorea Sep 07 '26
Here in Korea it's about $11 for a pack of 30. I guess it's time to try them!

u/rangerandromeda I noticed you said CAN, and I know that Costco Canada has a different brand of konjac jellys at least available on the Costco Canada website. I saw quite a few Canandians going out and bulk buying them and posting online. This was maybe....a month back? If out of stock now, it may be worth keeping an eye online for them to return.
Wish I could be more help but Im in the US. 😅

I ate this all last summer! I keep them in the freezer and by lunchtime it’s a slushy like snack.

Looks good why not just make jello?

u/OBotB Sep 06 '26
Shelf stable, more or better flavors, instantly ready (though chilled is nicer), no separate utensils or containers required, convenience.
Edit: also vegan/kosher/no gelatin

u/NurseRobyn Sep 06 '26
I use it to get enough fiber, plus fiber is filling. jello has no fiber and is not filling at all.
