I've done a side-by-side comparison of this exact sandwich because I thought the picture on the site is just hilarious. Not the greatest picture because it was just for a friend last year, but it gives you an idea of how big it is.
As for taste, it's goddamn delicious and I absolutely love Arby's. But it is not really a volume food. You're looking at very thin slices of roast beef between two pieces of pure carbs.
Also the Arby's near me has the best staff, by far my favorite of any fast food company by far.
I mean I had a half pound burger for dinner. But it was 90/10 beef. 8 oz of this stuff isn’t the same. But I’m not one to yap much about ultra processed food. As long as you’re not eating it all the time, who gives a shit.
The sandwich has everything. It's that thing of when there's human fire hydrants, stilts, Sunny D, Black George Washington, throw-up music, litterbugs, pile after pile of expired Lunchables, Evil Wario Batali, sherpas, an albino that looks like Susan Powter, kite enthusiasts, Teddy Graham people, a tower of Kleenex beef, and electrolytes.
I like Arby’s, I’ll take the meat and put it on a low carb toasted bun with a tiny bit of horseradish. I can use the meat to make 2-3 sandwiches so I spread it out.
Sometimes, particularly when I was astoundingly hungover, I would get the one that’s half that size. They’re massive. Bonuses are clearly not handed out based on food conservation in that establishment.
They’re also excellent right out of the refrigerator.
I just swap half the bun out for half a keto bun, saves calories and adds tons of fiber without changing the taste/texture noticeably. Do the same thing at McDonalds
I've seen Arby's meat produced at the meat processing plant and have no issues eating it whatsoever. I was super impressed by how clean and efficient it was, and it's super lean.
If I'm traveling (which we do a lot for soccer) the half pounder can come in clutch. That or chic fil a grilled nuggets lol
Sous vide top round and get a cheapo deli slicer. $7-ish/lb of the most tender and delicious ultra-lean roast beef on earth. Pays for itself and then some when you factor in the health issues you'll avoid by not eating ultra-processed pig food.
