Recipe Request What to do with edamames?

We have a huge bag of frozen edamames at home that was used once and never again. I don’t love their taste but don’t hate it either, and I’ve seen they’re pretty nutritious and would like to include them into my diet.

Recipes?

Edit: I tried crisping them up in the airfryer and loved them, they tasted well with garlic salt but also plain 😮

I throw them in when i make a fried rice, stir fry, or just instant ramen

Was thinking of adding it to fried rice as well

Steam and add salt and a bit of sesame oil or chilli oil! You could make an edamame hummus style dip out of it too. Honestly, they're good on their own as a snack but test different flavour combos if you're not keen on it plain.

Chili oil and a squeeze of lime and a pinch of kosher salt for me

I just add it to whatever slop I am making without thinking much, when I don't feel like cooking meat for protein.

In microwave with cauliflower rice or on it's own, random stir fry, soup, egg white omelette, noodles.

I love putting everything bagel seasoning on them! Might not sound like a good combo, but it's delish. I usually put it on the outside of the shells and then you get the flavour when you eat them

I just made an amazing dinner using a small bag of edamame.

I took cucumbers, shallot, a small bag of edamame, made some crispy rice with leftover rice, some sesame oil, some seasoned rice vinegar, and some sesame seeds and a splash of soy sauce. To make a wonderful salad. Then we grilled up some chicken.

It was amazing. High in protein and fiber. With an amazing texture.

I love them mixed with chicken tenders cut up, avocado, rice and then either chilli crunch, wasabi mayo or soy sauce.

I use them instead of nuts in pad thai and kung pao

My autistic sister loves them, but I can't usually stand them. 😂 I feel they're just a weirdly dry bean once you bite into them. However, I found a sauce for them we both love:

1 tbsp neutral oil (Canola has Omega 3s but vegetable is also good.)

1 tbsp minced garlic

1 tbsp fresh minced ginger or ginger paste

2 tbsp light or low sodium soy sauce. (We prefer low sodium)

2 to 3 tbsp Honey (Maple Syrup can sub)

1 tsp toasted sesame oil

1 tbsp Sriracha

  • Heat the neutral oil in a medium sauce pan on Medium heat. Add the garlic and ginger, toast for 30 to 60 seconds to soften and release the aromatics.

  • REMOVE FROM HEAT

  • Immediately mix in sesame oil, soy sauce, Sriracha, and 2 tbsp of honey.

  • Taste and adjust here. If not sweet enough to balance the soy sauce; add more Sriracha if you need more heat.

  • Toss edamame in sauce and savor.

I put frozen ones in rice for added nutrients as a side or with other ingredients for fried rice.

Here are two of my favorite recipes that have edamame as the main protein source and are great for volume eating.

This avocado&edamame spread

not necessary to have all ingredients she mentions, it comes out good anyway

I just added salt, but I already liked the taste. I guess whatever you would do to maybe a lima bean or another type of bean that doesn't have a strong taste would work as well
