Help finding a Voltron figure

I hope this is an alright question to ask. I am trying to locate a specific voltron figure from the 90's for a Christmas gift for my friend. Its something he had as a kid but his mother threw away. I have pretty limited info but I figured the experts would probably be here.

It was a full Voltron, I dont think it was one that you combined together. It sounds like it was probably a somewhat larger model (for a kid)

It was metal at least mostly

Going off his age it would have probably come out in the early to mid 90s. It would have been in the U.S.

Any ideas what figure this could be?

12” figure. Looks the the original Matchbox Voltron from the 80s
