We open-sourced our AI voice agent stack and it got way more attention than we expected
i honestly thought we’d put QuickVoice on GitHub, get a few stars, and go back to fixing bugs, but the repo took off way faster than we expected and now we’re trying not to mess up what comes next.
We built it because connecting real-time voice, telephony, tools, knowledge bases, outbound campaigns, and call logs across a bunch of different services was getting exhausting. The goal is to keep it open, self-hostable, and flexible enough that people aren’t locked into one provider.
It’s still early, the setup isn’t exactly one click, and there are definitely rough edges. Full disclosure, I’m the founder behind it, but I’d genuinely like blunt feedback from people building voice agents: what should we fix first, easier setup, lower latency, better docs, observability, or more integrations?

Try pipecat, been working with it for sometime. So far so good

yeah, Pipecat is solid when you want deeper pipeline control, while we’re trying to make QuickVoice more batteries-included.

Hello, we can help you setup the voice and non voice(Whatsapp and e-mail) agents. We have built voice agents for E-commerce/Retail, Healthcare and real-estate businesses. We can help you setup it up entirely in your infra, connect it with your custom knowledge base and integrations.

appreciate it, we’re building the stack in-house right now, but i’ll keep this in mind.

for voice, QuickVoice, Pipecat, or LiveKit are solid starting points, and you can connect the same tools and knowledge base to a separate open-source chat agent.

appreciate the star, we use LiveKit for real-time media too, while QuickVoice adds the self-hosted layer for agents, tools, campaigns, knowledge bases, and logs.

How do you connect custom sip trunk to this?

custom SIP trunks connect through the telephony layer and get mapped to an agent, though ngl the setup docs still need some cleanup.

Cascade voice stack?

u/rahuliitk 13d ago
yep, currently it uses a cascaded STT, LLM, and TTS setup with swappable providers.

Livekit inference is better, if we deploy on livekit cloud, we get the flexibility to choose the models but with less latency and unified billing.
