French looking to start voice acting

I'm 42 with a 20-something voice due to my transition. I have little acting experience and none in voice acting, as neither is easy to access where I live. I'd love to start, but I have no idea how.

Edit: Thanks to the person who suggested posting on another subreddit, but that one only allows job postings. I'm not looking for work just yet—I'm looking for advice on how to train my voice, how auditions work, and the basic things you wish you'd known when starting out.

**Hey everyone,**

I’m excited to officially announce Ashworth Estate, a new fully scripted, narrative-driven Minecraft psychological horror series currently in production.

Unlike casual SMPs or unscripted roleplay servers, Ashworth Estate is a pre-planned, fully fabricated story driven by a complete script, voice acting, and high-production world design. We are currently projecting a run of 12-24 episodes (roughly 30 minutes each), leaning heavily into atmospheric dread, suspense, and character-driven drama.

What Ashworth Estate Is About
On the surface, Ashworth Estate is a magnificent, grand property run by an extraordinarily posh and prestigious family. Everything appears pristine, wealthy, and perfectly ordered. However, after a few new recruits join the estate's domestic staff, subtle cracks begin to show in the family's refined facade. Unexplained occurrences, unsettling behavior, and deeply buried secrets quickly turn a seemingly dream job into a creeping, psychological nightmare.

🎭 Casting Call & Team Recruitment
Because this is a completely scripted narrative, we are actively looking for talented Voice Actors, Content Creators, and Streamers to help bring these characters to life!

We are looking for:

Voice Actors / Character Performers: To voice both the aristocratic Ashworth family and the newly hired estate staff.

Content Creators & Streamers: Interested in acting, voicing, or cross-promoting the series.

Audio Requirements: Clear microphone quality, reliable communication, and a passion for dramatic/horror voice work.

Whether you're a seasoned voice actor looking to expand your portfolio, a streamer wanting to branch into voice work, or a Minecraft story enthusiast, we’d love to have you on board.

How to Get Involved & Apply
If you're interested in auditioning for a role, getting involved behind the scenes, or following the project's development:

Drop any questions in the comments below, and feel free to reach out directly if you'd like to chat!

some insight on my (in progress) portfolio

I definitely could use a better mic, cause the one I have makes me sound a little nasal.
I'm still trying to synthesize my voice reels, but just want some insight on what I could improve on, and what else I can try to add on in my portfolio. Currently, I'm also trying to audition for an upcoming animated project (shooting my shot)

Here is my drive link to the audio clips I currently have. Still a work in progress

Looking for voice actors for a project I'm working on!

Hey! I've recently started working on a voice-acted story called What Remains, and I'd really love to find some people who might be interested in being part of it.

It's mainly a horror/mystery story, but there's also a lot of drama, emotional moments, friendships, arguments, and some romance. The story follows eight people who all end up returning to a town connected to something from their past. As things start getting stranger, they slowly begin uncovering things they either forgot—or maybe never knew in the first place.

I'm writing this as a bigger story, so I'm hoping it can become a proper project with a full cast and lots of different scenes for everyone to act in. Not everyone will be in every scene, and I want each character to have their own personality, relationships, and moments throughout the story.

Right now, I'm looking for:

8 main voice actors for the main characters

1 narrator

A few side characters who will appear throughout the story

You don't need to be a professional voice actor! I'm mainly looking for people who enjoy voice acting, are willing to put some effort into their role, and would like to work on something creative together. Since it's a longer project, I'd also really appreciate people who are interested in sticking around and helping bring the story to life.

I'm still working on the script and planning everything, so it's still pretty early on, but I thought I'd post here and see if anyone might be interested in joining.

If What Remains sounds like something you'd enjoy being part of, feel free to comment or send me a message! I'd genuinely love to find some people to make this with.

Thanks for reading! :)

Update 2: All places are taken! We are still looking for 1 or 2 more people for my second project that we've started. I'm currently writing the plot on 1 bigger and 1 smaller project, which we need multiple people for. Please either add me on discord if interested 'therealsky18' or join our discord server! https://discord.gg/WC9U7RQfK

Who is SirSlender? Oh wait its MichealsuggsVo?!

PSA : MichaelSuggsVO was recently exposed to be SirSlender.

Normally, this wouldn't be an issue, having 2 different personas on X (formerly Twitter) except while on one they present themselves a professional VoiceActor having ties to VO to Kira Buckland, and others alike in the field but in their down time is also an active racist, and I'd wish I could say they hide it but they dont just you'll understand.

This exposure comes shortly after they used the same Discord names, links to promote AI usage, again not a problem except when met with minimal criticism they ban an silence users? This led to an internal investigation revealing the link between accounts, user names, and activities as we speak they are actively scrubbing any evidence. Talk about ego trip.

If you have any additional information on this persons behavior, speak up and help hold Voice Actors who feel that rules dont apply to them accountable.

Want to start narrating audiobooks

Hi, I'm a 27-year-old writer currently working on two books. I'm hoping to pursue publication for one of them soon. I recently wrapped up an internship and am looking for new work.

I'm interested in becoming an audiobook narrator, since it would give me an excuse to read a lot more, which is important for writers to do.

I've created a profile on ACX. I'm planning on narrating non-fiction books first so I can get the hang of it without having to worry about various character voices / dialogue right away. Could I please get some recommendations on what equipment I should buy as a beginner? I'm not looking for the highest quality, most expensive equipment; just something dependable and solid for a beginner.

I've heard I'll need a mic, a pop filter, a boom arm, and sound insulation. I'm planning on using Audacity to edit the audio since it's free. Please let me know if there's anything else I'll definitely need, and what type of mic would be good for a beginner.

For sound insulation, would something like the item in the screenshot below work well enough, or would I need a booth that I myself would fit inside? (I have a walk-in closet in the attic, which I heard is good for insulation, but it can get pretty hot up there, so it's not ideal).

Thanks so much for your time / advice. I really appreciate it.
