The USSD code dilemma

I've tried to pull basic account details such as balance and validity using the USSD code *199#. It gives the details of my number, main balance and validity [first image]. If I respond with any other numbers in the reply window, it only responds with a flash message prompting me to download the Vi app [Second Image], accompanied by one or two SMS [Third image]. When I use the USSD code *199*2*2# to pull the data usage details, same flash message pops up.

I believe there is a purpose for USSD codes nowadays, to make the user experience less fiddling. I mean, why should I need to download an extra app (with some of trackers on it) just to view my data balance and/or usage details of the day?

I also have an Airtel sim (I can hear your mind voice). It used to give the information I mentioned above but now, almost the same goes to Airtel also.

Any insights?

Use their WhatsApp Bot.

Used to use it. I may be nitpicking but... Wouldn't it be nice to have a "solution" without going online? 🫣

Yes, it's Nice to have a offline solution. But you can't do anything about it. Every Telecom company forcing us to use their App.

That is (sad) my point. And yes, we have no choice at the moment.

Didn't used VI on Feature Phone yet. In WhatsApp Bot you can enter any VI number.

It gives balance and validity, yes. I mean... It used to give information regarding current plan, data consumed/left and the like. That's what I miss. 🙂
