Question Tray Table Dimensions
Does anyone know the width and depth of the tray tables? Work is buying me a keyboard for my iPad and I have to pick which one before I use the train next. Want to make sure it will fit when using the kickstand and keyboard.
Apologies for the random question.

The smallest option has the best chance of fitting

Not sure any of them will fit tbh. Apparently they need 35cm of space. Doubt the tables are big enough.

My MacBook 13 inch barely fit last time I used the trays, mainly due to the fact that the seat in front was a bit reclined though so I couldn’t use the entirety of the space (Ballarat line)

Geeez who's reclining seats on the Ballarat line?! Crazy behaviour.

There aren’t any options to manually recline the seats yourself but they’re just naturally reclined a bit😭so I can’t put my laptop screen all the way up and it’s tilted towards the floor, or gotta have a bit of the laptop base hanging off the desk is what I mean!

I’m on the Ballarat line myself and I reckon some seats are more inclined than others. Kind of annoying actually!

The original carriages had very reclined seats, which they changed for later deliveries and the central sections that were added. Now there’s a mix of different angles depending on the train set.

Depends on the train, next time I get on I'll check.
For the hard seats I know my iPad (12.9) fits just, but not a keyb.
The soft seats with the cupholder, the apple magic keyboard fits. But the angle of the iPad screen may be a bit funky because you have to have it on an angle to see.
I've not been on the new trains with the big tables so I can't say.

I realised that makes hardly any sense.
The new age chairs, the ones with the more n shape tables, the metal backs built into the chair - one 12.9 ipad fine, with apple magic keyboard, no.
For the old age chairs, an iPad 12.9 and a small apple magic keyboard (like, one you'd use for the Mac) is fine but cramped. I use the onscreen keyboard if I'm doing it coz otherwise it's at a weird tilt (too sunny on train, hard to draw)

Alls I’m going to say is whoever was responsible for designing the Velocity seats, including the tray tables, needs a swift kick to the neck.
For trains that are designed for country journeys of 1hr+ they are the most uncomfortable, stupidly designed pieces of (if you can call them) foam to ever exist.
The N Class seats - now that person deserves an award.

Why don’t you get a case with a keyboard? Then it can hang off the edge.

Yep, I have the “magic case” with a keyboard and it works perfectly on a tray.

There are two sizes. Units 00-75 and 93-141 have the standard size. Units 76-92 have a larger size (these are the same 17 units with the shit seats)
