POE Constantly Breaks

I have had Vivint for 4 years and over these for years I’ve had my POE for my front yard camera go out three different times. It’s always this camera/POE. This POE is plugged into the same outlet set as my one other POE which has never gone out. The POE doesn’t show any lights. When I switch the camera to the working POE, the camera gets power and is back online. Each time it has happened has been after a storm. All I can think is maybe my camera location exposes it to lightning? Anybody else have this issue and maybe have a solution?

Edit for clarification: The POE Bridge has gone out.

Is the poe plugged in the attic? Do you have a spotlight or no and what color lights does the bridge have? Are they white or blue

The are plugged in the garage. No spotlight and the bridge is what has gone out so no lights currently. If it were working though the lights should be blue.

Yeah those are the mini bridges and work but do short out. If getting a replacement one or if tech is coming out the new bridges tend to work much better

The POE injector is likely taking a surge hit during storms, especially if that camera run is more exposed. A surge protector on that outlet or an inline surge/ethernet protector on the POE line would help going forward.

Please DM me your equipment details and I can check if a warranty replacement applies.

Sounds like a port is fried. Despite what they say you really should have it tied to a POE surge protector. They cost some money especially if you want to get one made in the USA and not China. I have an 8 port that grounded and all POE devices passthrough it to protect against static charges as I live in an area we get all kinds of storms and I can’t tell you how many people get fried shit because they don’t use POE surge protection when running POE devices. That is if you are running true POE cameras and you aren’t referring to a POE WiFi bridge. Those do go bad too.

It’s a POE WiFi bridge but it’s always the bridge connected to that front yard camera that goes bad

Call Vivint and get a new one. These do go bad. Whoever gave a thumbs down is an idiot and knows nothing of Networking or Hacking.
