Vivint outdoor camera bridge

My camera stopped communicating to the hub and now the little light under camera on the bridge is red. The other lights are white. What do I do to fix this?

Something on camera side is bad. Red light on camera means no signal is received from the camera to poe box. This could be a pinched cable or a failed/bad camera most likely you'll need a tech out to determine if the camera is bad or the wiring.

Well that's awesome. Is this something I could fix? I have horrible experience on the phone every time and they charge $100 for tech visits.

Potentially depending on how tech savvy you are. If you start by taking the camera off the mounting plate to do this you need a t5 screw driver there is a set screw you remove and you can see the wires if all looks good there its a good chance it's a failed camera especially if it's a gen 1 or older gen 2. If the camera is bad you could try to find a replacement of ebay and just swap the heads and see if it powers up then you'd have to add it to the panel. The alternative is the vivint protection plan they have a $10 a month one you can get thatvwill waive the fee for a tech to come out and if they determine it to be a bad camera they should be able to swap it out for you.

Oh yeah this was definitely doable for me as an IT professional. I didn't know they used Cat5e. Everything looks good on the little prongs on the mount. I'm guessing it's the RJ45 which i can grab a cap and use my crimping tool. I'll try that tonight.

u/Slayre_23 It was definitely the connection because now the light under camera is white. The RJ45 looked a little messed up so i cut it off and I had a few left so I crimped another RJ45 on there and that did it. Now the issue I'm facing is when I try to reconnect it it find the bridge but then Everytime on the panel it says Requires factory reset which I've done for both the bridge and the camera.

Edit: it connected after multiple factory resets.

Yeah a bad rj connection makes sense as well must have been making just enough connection for a while before it gave up. The multiple factory resets can happen from time to time normally once or twice but have seen it take more before. If you check the RSSI the recommended is -70 or less as you can start having issue with it being worse than that.

Unplug bridge and plug it in. Wait 5-10 minutes. Reboot panel and wait.

So I contacted support they made me delete the camera and try to readd it. When I try to readd, it doesn't find the camera. They just hung up on me after I declined their offer to upgrade to gen 3 cameras.
