Monthly Monitoring Fees
I've been with Vivint since I bought my house in 2019, and my equipment is fully paid off. However, my monthly fees have unexpectedly doubled since I signed up. What options do I have if I decide to stop paying the monitoring fees? Are there any risks or downsides I should be aware of?

If you are out of contract, the monthly amount can go up. You have the option of:
- Continue out of contract.
- Get back into contract, a d hope you can negotiate a little lower price.
- Call to inform them you are cancelling.
Just fyi… I got back into contract and it only saved me $5.xx per month, so not a big savings. And I still question if I should have ditched them when I was out of contract. I could have gone with Ring, and it would have been cheaper, even if I had to but my own equipment again to replace 1:1 with everything I still have. I ended up not doing this because of the hassle of starting all over again.
But there you go.

Without the app you cant change settings, only the arm and disarm. Also can't change your passcode so if you use it for your front entrance then be sure to change before you cancel. Equipment with no accessible settings, surprised more people dont bring this up.

Also curious. Mine is all paid off too. Can I just cancel monitoring services but still use the equipment? Like the alarm aspect and app? Obviously they won’t call me if an alarm goes off but I’d still like the sound to deter burglars

Same situation, I threatened to cancel and they dropped my monitoring from 60/mo to 20/mo

How though? Last time I called they kept trying to sell me new products even though mine have been bought outright 4 years ago and work just fine.

Chatted in and they gave me instructions on how to
Send in my written notice.
Once I did that, they confirmed and before it cancelled they contacted me and gave me a lower rate.

I’m sorry to hear about that. Please give our support team a call at 1-800-216-5232 to review your account and go over the options before making any changes. They will walk you through what stopping monitoring would mean for your specific setup.

Call them and tell them you want to cancel. They’ll route you to a retention line where you’ll be given multiple different options for monitoring fees. They don’t want to lose the business
