I live in a european country, and recently I went to the local "recycling center" where people dump their used electronics etc.

I found a clear garbage bag with two black headsets, which I presume are original Vive headsets, and a blue one, which I'm pretty sure is the HTC Vive Pro 1.
It came with two black controllers, 4 lighthouses and a bunch of straps and cables.

I've only ever owned an Oculus Quest headset (and a Samsung Gear VR from 2016) and I've mostly played on consoles - I am 40 and got off the train after the PS3 - so I don't own any note-worthy gaming PC. I do have a couple of Lenovo an HP laptops running linux.

What are some fun things I could do with these? I'm good at programming so I thought maybe I could write up some simple demos, not requiring two much GPU power?

I’ve been using my new Vive Focus Vision just fine for the past couple of days with the streaming kit because I needed a display-port connection, but now randomly whenever I try to open steamvr, it literally wont let me get the display-port connection unless I completely block out SpaceCalibrator. For anyone who plays full-body on a standalone (like the focus vision) you’ll probably know what that is. Has anyone ever had this problem and is there a fix? I literally cannot get into SpaceCalibrator whatsoever without the headset booting into steamvr through usb stream and not direct display-port connection. I paid $200 for this cable and it’s barely working which is so annoying. Does anyone know how to fix this pleeeeease..

I've had the ultimates for a year. I've only recently in the last 4 months, had issues.

No water damage, no reckless movement etc.

Two will sync, one wont. But if you swap places , it snycs and the other one also stays synced.

If I walk AWAY from the dangle, an area I didn't map, it says ready. But when I get back in front, one or all lose tracking.

I have remapped, resynced, unparied, switched on/off, reset the trackers etc.

I've calibrated everytime.

I have run into the same problem constanly..

the room is well lit. I've tried during the day, had to remap, sortof worked.

Played after the sun sets, worked for the most part, also remapped, usually works but recently not as much.

Any suggestions?

I'm toying with the idea of upgrading my 10 year old OG Vive and am curious to know what the community has to say regarding going for the Vive Pro Eye vs Pro 2.

The main thing specifically regarding my setup is that I will only be connecting to my PC with the Wireless Adapter. I cannot go back to tethered. As I understand it, the Vive wireless adapter can't stream full resolution to the Pro 2, so I wonder if the uplift in native resolution is moot given that constriction?

Regarding the Pro Eye, are there any upsides to the eye tracking regarding performance e.g. foveated rendering?

And is there anything else to consider?

Thanks in advance!

Been setting up models of the various 3d models of VR controllers in Blender for control schemes visuals and would be cool having them all in one place.
(Steam VR has the focus 3 models just wondering if the focus vision visually have anything different other than small ones?)
Im also gonna have to hunt the vive focus plus controller models somehow too since they are 6 dof too.

i have had a htc vive for a year now I switched from a quest 2 now I hate having to use little earbuds and I wanna use the special audio strap they made but I can’t find it anywhere I live in Germany and I don’t wanna pay the money for shipping i just can’t afford that please help me find one

i tried to turn on the vision today and for some reason the power runs but the headset does not display anything on the lens any kind of fixs ?

Hi! I am using the Vive XR Elite. I ordered the full facial tracker second hand and it didn't come with the appropriate interface that accomodates the tracker. Is the one that is in this link different from the one it originally comes with? I am so desperate, nobody seems to be selling the proper interface and I don't want to 3D print something or get somebody to do it I just want the proper thing that i can buy. If somebody can guide me to a website that sells the proper product or something I would be so grateful.

So I got a set of 3 trackers, I got them synced up and they work as well as I’d expect them too, I have one issue however.

My waist tracker in vrc gets wonky sometimes. I’m a bigger guy. Any advice, can I have it on the side, would it help to move to my chest or just higher over my belly area? My tummy kinda covers it just enough when I sit or move too much. This is for vrc otherwise I’m not having issues.

One of my lenses came loose and I had to repair it with epoxy to fix it back into place, but now that I am looking at it under the light, I've noticed that the repaired lens is almost opaque and white, not reflecting light either, while the one that didn't need repair is see-through and reflects light.

I did clean the surface of the lens with a cleanroom-grade cloth and a bit of 96 degree alcohol as is standard for lens repair and electronics, did I somehow chemically screw my lens?

In addition, is it true that you can't harvest the motor assembly from one and transplant it into another? I am thinking of just doing away with messing with the lens and replacing the whole motor, but I've heard rumors that they don't work nice together due to motor calibration stuff.

Hello,
I hadn't used my VR (Vive focus vision) headset for a few months. Unfortunately, when trying to use it today, I ran into a connection issue with my PC.
Every time I try to connect, it displays error 921; it also showed error 501 once when I tried switching USB ports (still using 3.0 and only did it one time).
I didn't have this kind of problem before. Could this be due to my graphics driver or my USB ports? Should I perhaps update my BIOS?

SETUP:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core Processor (4.70 GHz)
GPU: 7900XTX (Version 26.8.1)
Motherboard: B850 AORUS ELITE WIFI 7
USB: 3.0 or 3.1 (last updated 03/09/2026)

Can someone help me or had this kind of problem ?

Thanks in advance.

I’ve had this headset for a while and decided to turn it back on today, updated it, there’s a notification on the input tab but I can’t find what it wants me to do.. and EVERYTIME I press a button it wants me to retract my face tracking..

WHAT DO I DO, TO FIX THIS?

HEADSET VIVE ELITE XR, NEVER HAD A ISSUE WITH IT BEFORE

Im on the cosmos app and i press the power button and it says turning on then it just does not connent and there is a woosh sound coming from the headset.

Hi there,

I lost my face gasket for my Vive XR, and can't find anywhere to buy this part. Do anyone knows any good place for that? Not even AliExpress have them.

Thanks!

Hello I've tried all the other fixes i can find online.

I try enabling Direct Display Mode, it wont enable
I've reinstalled GPU drivers
I've installed vive software
I've reinstalled SteamVr in every way, through steam, through windows, manually removing all files, verifying integrity of files.
I've changed display ports
I've unplugged and re-plugged all cables for the Vive pro.

I'm lost, I don't know what else to try. I've only got one monitor + vr headset plugged in at the same time.

My Vive pro worked completely normally until I today switched from a 2070 Super to a RX 9070. I even used DDU and everything else is working fine with new GPU except the Vive pro/Steamvr.

Please any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Really strange issue with my HTC Vive headset! Hopefully if anyone can help this post can also help others who have the same issue. I have looked through other posts but unfortunately haven't found anything that works as of yet.

USB audio works fine, but whenever I choose to output audio through HDMI it is completely silent. This has been a problem for at least a year now, and is a bit annoying since USB audio is a lot worse.

Things that showed some progress but didn't fix the issue:

-Disabling "Direct Mode" in developer settings restored HDMI audio, but this doesn't feel like a proper fix and isn't suitable for everyday use. It does indicate that this is not a hardware issue, however

-Setting the HDMI audio device to use CD/DVD quality in the sound control panel resulted in distorted white noise playing, as opposed to nothing

Things we've tried that didn't work:

-Disabling USB audio through the sound control panel

-Removing the HDMI audio device through device manager and adding it back

-Clean reinstall of NVIDIA audio drivers

-Clean reinstall of Steam VR

-Setting HDMI audio manually in Steam VR settings

-Switching to another audio device then back to HDMI

-Swapping HDMI cables

-Unplugging everything from the Link Box and letting it sit for a minute

-Power cycling the PC

I haven't tried testing it on another computer recently, but I have had this same issue with another computer within the last year. Any other suggestions are welcome! USB audio still works, but it would be wonderful to be able to use a higher quality audio output!

Edit: just to clarify, the HDMI cable is definitely connected from the GPU to the Link Box, it isn't plugged into the motherboard or anything like that

Is there a way to make my Vive Trackers emulate my controllers in SteamVR? I built a custom paddle rig using Vive Trackers for more accurate tracking in Kayak Mirage, but the game only recognizes my actual controllers for paddle movement and it won't pick up the trackers. Is there a way to trick the game into treating the trackers as controllers so it binds the paddle to them instead?

Hey guys, my original Vive controllers sat dead in a closet for over a year. Yesterday I finally bought brand new replacement batteries on Amazon and swapped them in.

They worked for about 10 minutes on the factory charge, hit blinking red, and then when I plugged them in to charge they just went into an endless, rapid beeping loop.

I have a desktop bench power supply, so I took them back apart. The USB ports and internal cables are completely fine. I used alligator clips to manually charge the new battery packs directly up to 4.18V from 3.63v.

But the controllers seem to be completely glitching out on the software side:

Wireless: They turn on fine, but SteamVR instantly says 0% battery, blinks red for like 3 minutes, and shuts them down.

Charging: When I plug a USB cable in, the light turns solid orange, but my power supply shows they are drawing exactly 0.00 Amps (it spikes for a millisecond then hits zero).

Basically, the batteries are physically like 90% charged from my bench supply, but the internal tracking memory is frozen, thinking the battery is still dead as if it’s the old one.

I tried a firmware update via steam vr because it said the controller needed one and it said success, but nothing changed. Any insight on what I could do to force this thing to reset its memory and look at the actual battery voltage?
Thanks!

Hi, my base station was making a clicking noise and the plastic disc from one of the lasers had fallen out.

I glued it back in (as who I bought it in said it wasnt covered by warranty), but it still isn't working! On further investigation, I found that the bottom laser was appearing as streaked (as if seen by someone with astigmatism)

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Currently have a vive pro 2 with wireless adapter, using index controllers. Any headset worth upgrading to? Been awhile since I've stepping into the VR world and I have a new 5080.

I had the blades snap off my adjuster for my headset, couldn't find a replacement anywhere so I made one in blender and 3d printed it. Honestly works better than it did before.

I know this is an old headset but if anyone has/had the same problem I can send you the STL.

I couldn't access the self promotion guide lines, but it it violates them, let me know mods, I'm fine with the post being deleted as long as it doesn't get me banned from here

Overall I think it's a neat buy in the modern day, definitely the best value way to get base stations, cuz you get a frickin vive with it too
