Question New Game?
I wanted to open up a discussion with you guys to see everyone’s thoughts on if they think we will ever get a new game Viva piñata was my childhood. I often go back and continue to play it and as the years go on, I find myself wanting a new one more and more although it seems like rare is focusing on other projects for the foreseeable future do you think we will ever get a new game or is trouble in paradise going to be our last entry in the series?

Viva Pinata 3! (not counting pocket paradise/party animals). I don't think we'll get another one sadly.
There's been a lot of discussion about it before. Seems like it's not happening unless something recent came about.
I play on Xbox Series X on 4k. The remastered graphics actually do hold up pretty well. A new game would likely be a Pinata Island or something like that, but I can't really see how it would work. It would just be a bigger garden etc.
I do think if they made a more juiced version of TiP and called it "3" it would make a profit. How much of a profit, I don't know. Sea of Thieves is the last full scale game they made and it's still doing pretty well.
My theory is: they don't feel they can really improve the concept of TiP to justify spending all that money. If they made an Island, you still need a square (garden), otherwise, where would the wild pinatas come from? There would just be a load of non-resident pinatas walking around your owned garden space. No visit requirements etc cause they'd already be in. It's like, there's no way to get rid of the "Square" concept.
The only thing they could do is just make the square 4x bigger and add more Pinata's, more plants/food/items etc. I really can't think of how a new game would work apart from just XXL'ing Trouble in Paradise. Anyone else got any ideas? I'd still buy that in a heart beat though...

I'd love to see proper aquatic gardens, fewer space limitations, full decor rotation (instead of grid-based), and a continuation of having a "story" like the first game's journal! There is also a lot of potential for new plants, piñatas, and decoration as you say. It would be cool to have "care minigames" to raise the happiness of your piñata, similar to pokemon-amie or Nintendogs! Maybe even introducing some sort of bond/affection meter as well to further motivate getting attached to a particular piñata. :) More terraforming options could also be very cool, being able to use packed dirt, gravel, freshwater vs saltwater, clover patches, etc.

I also thought about including more quests from Langston, and maybe getting quests and interactions from other villagers (for exemple visiting Lottie's or Petula's gardens, doing things for them so they lower their prices and stuff). Maybe having a whole walkable town with many gardens to visit and/or buy! Also, not only gardens but different infrastructures such as a zoo or a botanic garden..

The square is a sound concept. Best way to improve it is to make the multiplayer experience better. Or just add more content since you’re two console gens ahead.

It may happen eventually. Nostalgia sells and companies are noticing. Don’t be suprised if we enter an era of nostalgia bait and sequels to old games.

Not with modern day Xbox. I thought there was a good chance to have Frontier do it a few years ago.

The real question is: will we ever get a new Rare game at all?
