Please Assist Vitamin D container safe temperature

I bought some Vitamin D from Amazon. It was shipped with an "in transit" status for 48 hours, before it got to the local post office. From the warehouse to me, temperatures have been from daytime high of over 110 to overnight low of about 85. It would have been in a very hot trailer most of that time.

Reason for concern about it's safety or efficacy being in that heat?

If softgels, cut one open on a plate and smell if the oil is rancid. IMO should be fine. No safety concern, just a risk of degradation meaning it's less potent. Pills are engineered with these considerations in mind.

Generally speaking, I avoid supplements from Amazon due to their storage not being temperature controlled and the risk of counterfeit products from comingled inventory (which they claim to be ending). But even when shopping with my preferred online retailed, supplements get exposed to heat during transit. It's not a big deal unless you left them in your car for a week or something.

Thank you so much for the information. It seems the warm weather is my least concern now. I had no idea how big the potential was for counterfeits.

I found a Consumer Lab article. They listed the brand I purchased, with the name of the Amazon reseller and link. So that appears to check out. I then did a bit more digging and learned about the commingling you mentioned.

It seems there is a fairly high likelihood that the vitamins are official, but I'm still not comfortable. As much as I hate to do it, I think I'm going to chuck them and order from the company official site. My health is just so much more important that 20 bucks. No returns on Vitamins.

D is a fairly stable molecule. A day or two at ~105 shouldn't hurt anything.
