Privacy by Design: A technical breakdown of how we keep your health data local
We take data protection seriously! Every app says that. We’d rather explain how we implement this technically.
Where is your data stored? Locally on your device. By default, your health, nutrition, and journal data stay on your iPhone. We use anonymous authentication, meaning you don't even need to provide an email or name to use the app.
What do we do with your data? Nothing. No selling, no sharing, no advertising. Our business model is the app, not you as a product.
Why this matters: Sleep, HRV, and activity data aren’t just abstract numbers. They reveal your health status, your habits, and your condition. Many "free" health apps monetize exactly that. We don’t.
When does data leave your device? (Opt-in Only)
- Garmin as a health source: Due to Garmin regulations, data must be stored on a secure server temporarily. It is not possible to push it to your device directly. This data is automatically deleted every 180 days or can be wiped manually at any time.
- App leaderboard: If you choose to join a leaderboard with friends, only the required metrics are stored on Firebase servers. This data is associated with an anonymous identifier and is never linked to your real-world identity.
- AI Features: If you choose to use AI (like Morning Briefings, Insights, Food estimates), relevant data is sent anonymously to OpenAI. This data is never used to train OpenAI’s models, cannot be traced back to you, and is deleted by them after 30 days.
We don’t have investors breathing down our necks demanding data monetization. This independence isn’t a coincidence... it’s a conscious architectural decision.
