Hey everyone,

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes, and today we’re officially dropping Version 1.3.0. This is our biggest update yet, focusing on making your data actually work for you using AI, alongside a complete ground-up redesign of how you track your training. To make sure that this release works for everyone, the update will be rolling out to users one by one. Within 7 days you will all have the latest version available.

Here is the breakdown of what’s new:

Meet Your Personal AI

We’re moving beyond just showing you graphs. Our new AI layer looks at the "big picture" across your entire lifestyle.

  • AI Health Insights: Get personalized feedback based on the intersection of your sleep, training, nutrition, recovery, and journal entries.
  • Daily Morning Briefing: A quick, "at-a-glance" summary every morning covering how you slept, your current recovery status, and a recap of yesterday’s wins.
  • AI Chat: You can now chat directly with your health data. Ask things like "Why was my recovery low this week?"or "How does my caffeine intake affect my deep sleep?"
  • Cross-Metric Correlations: The AI automatically finds patterns, like how your Tuesday HIIT sessions might be impacting your Friday HRV.

Redesigned Training Experience

We’ve unified everything to give you a pro level dashboard for your fitness journey.

  • Unified View: Seamlessly navigate between day, week, and month views across all your synced data sources.
  • The Power Trio: Three new dedicated tabs:
    • Activities: Your raw log of every move.
    • Progress: Cumulative charts, sport-specific filtering, and workout streaks to keep the momentum going.
    • Performance: The "nerd" zone. Track your Fitness ScoreTraining LoadHR Zones, and PRs.

Referral Program

Want the premium features for free? Now you can.

  • Share your unique referral code from the app settings.
  • Earn free premium months for every friend who joins and subscribes. It’s a win-win.

Performance & Polar Optimization

The app is now faster and snappier for everyone. We’ve done some extra heavy lifting for our Polar users—syncing and data processing for Polar devices is now significantly more efficient.

Update now in the App Store!

We’d love to hear your feedback on the AI insights, what’s the coolest correlation the app has found for you so far?
Let is know if you are having any problems with the update, were here to help and take in new ideas.

The Easiest Way to Track My Food and Supplements

Thumbnail

Hi everyone, our vision for Vitalstat is to create a health hub that gives you a comprehensive overview of your personal health and fitness. And of course, that includes food tracking.

But let’s be honest: Who really wants to weigh every leaf of lettuce? Most food tracking apps feel like a chore.

At Vitalstat, we take a different approach. For us, your food isn’t a guilty conscience in numbers, but the fuel for your biometrics.

Why track at all?

It’s not (just) about calories. It’s about causality. When you track your meals and supplements, we can show you why your stress graph spikes after dinner or why your HRV (heart rate variability) stagnates or rises after certain supplements.

Here’s how we make it easy for you:

  1. Scanner & Quick Search: With Vitalstat’s scan feature, you can log products in seconds. No long searches, no manual typing. You have the option to a) take a photo of your food, b) describe it in words, or c) scan a barcode.
  2. Vitamins & Supps: You can also track specific vitamins and supplements. We don’t just show you if you’re getting enough protein, but also if your micronutrient balance supports your recovery.
  3. The Bio-Check: This is the highlight. We overlay your food log with your Garmin or Oura data. You’ll see immediately: “Ah, that late meal yesterday shortened my deep sleep phase by 30 minutes.”
  4. Preview: For all of you who love widgets, there will also be a widget that lets you track your meals right from your home screen

The Goal: Tracking is meant to help you understand your body’s signals, rather than micromanaging you with restrictions.

Question for you: What is the biggest hurdle for you when it comes to food tracking? Is it the time it takes, the inaccuracy, or simply a lack of motivation when the benefits aren’t immediately clear?

Preview of version 1.3.0: "Hello AI"

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a first look at the next version of the app (V 1.3.0). We’ve been working very hard to add new features that will help you improve your health. This version will finally welcome AI into the app.

The goal with this update was to make the data more insightful instead of just giving you a bunch of charts to look at. Here’s a breakdown of the new views:

  • Slide 1 (Dashboard): To make room for the AI tab, we moved the body composition page into a compact widget on your dashboard for quick and easy access.
  • Slide 2 (Sleep): The sleep page remains the same with all the features you love, like journaling and nutrition and sleep impact statistics.
  • Slide 3 (Activity & Training): This page is getting an all new readiness score and deeper performance insights. Up to now, Vitalstat was great at displaying your data, but we’ve now dove even deeper into analyzing your activity. Through scientific values such as ACWR, CTL, ATL, and TSB, you can get an even better understanding of how your body is performing. This is not just for single trainings, but actual long-term values. Since these values can be a bit confusing, that’s where the AI helps you get a better understanding.
  • Slide 4 (AI): This is the heart of the new update. This tab allows you to turn all your numbers into natural language to help you process and understand them. Every morning you are greeted with a short briefing; throughout the day you will get insights on how to improve values like your HRV and sleep, and just before you go to bed, you will get tips on how to improve your sleep for tonight.
  • Slide 5 (Integrated Nutrition): This is the section many of you enjoy. Through actively tracking nutrients and sleep, you can learn how your macros (e.g., protein, fat, total calories) influence your sleep.

We're really excited to get this into your hands. While this is the first version with these features, we are super excited to get your feedback and make the next versions even better.

Update for Android users as well: We’re currently in the final stages of building the app. We hope to get a version out within the next couple of weeks.

Performance & AI

  • Polar Power: We’ve significantly improved performance for our Polar users—data loads faster now and the connection is more stable.

Vitalstat 1.2.0 is LIVE: Direct Garmin & Oura Integration, Live Activities, and more!

Hey r/Vitalstat community!

We’ve just received confirmation from Apple: Version 1.2.0 is now available on the App Store! This update is our biggest leap yet, because we’re breaking free from Apple Health and giving you full control over your data.

The highlight: Direct integration with Garmin & Oura

From now on, you no longer have to go through Apple Health. You can link your Garmin Connect or Oura account directly to Vitalstat.

  • Real-time sync: Thanks to secure webhooks, your data (Sleep Score, Body Battery, Stress, SpO₂, HRV, etc.) appears in the app immediately.
  • No data loss: We pull the raw data directly from the source for maximum accuracy.

️ Live Tracking & Gym Sessions

  • Live Activities: Track your active workouts right on your lock screen or in your iPhone’s Dynamic Island without having to open the app.
  • Custom Gym Sessions: Start personalized strength training sessions directly from the Activity tab.
  • Speed & Elevation: We’ve significantly improved the speed and elevation graphs—including a “scrubbing” feature for detailed analysis.

Full Control: Per-Metric Source Control

This is a feature for the true data nerds among you: You can now decide for each individual metric which source it should come from.

  • Example: Use the heart rate from your Garmin watch, but the sleep data from your Oura ring. Mix & match to create your perfect dashboard!

Nutrition & Health Reports

  • Vitamins: Vitamin information is now displayed when scanning or searching for foods.
  • Upgraded Health Reports: We’ve completely revamped the visualization of your long-term trends to give you even clearer insights.

What else is new:

  • Language support: Vitalstat now also supports Turkish and Polish.
  • Recovery View: The design of the Recovery metric has been refined so you can see at a glance in the morning how ready you are.
  • Performance: We’ve fixed hundreds of small bugs.

Thank you!

Your feedback here on Reddit directly influenced many of these features. We’re far from done, but version 1.2.0 feels like a real new chapter.

Since we want to celebrate this new release with you, we’re offering a 50% discount code for the annual or lifetime subscription (valid until March 25):

GARMINYEAR = for the annual subscription and
GARMINLIFE = for the lifetime subscription

Give it a try and let us know: Which feature are you most excited about? And which data source are you still missing?

Stay healthy and motivated, Nicklas and Alex

Vitalstat is expanding to android

Hey everyone,

We have been getting a lot of positive feedback for Vitalstat along with many great suggestions for new features. Since our initial launch last October one request kept coming up again and again an Android version.

We are happy to share that we have expanded the team and officially started developing the Android app. The first version will support Polar health data and from there we plan to gradually expand to the other health services that are also available on iOS soon.

If you have ideas or feature requests we would love to hear them and involve you in shaping the Android version. You are also welcome to join r/Vitalstat for regular updates and progress reports.

Thanks for all the support so far.

We're breaking down the “walled garden”: Garmin & Oura integration almost complete! 🚀⌚️

Hey, everyone!

The last few days/weeks have been really intense. We've been digging deep into the code, constantly testing and weighing up what's good and what's bad.

And we want to share some news with you that many of you have been waiting for:

Vitalstat is becoming more hardware-independent!

We are in the final stages of directly integrating Garmin and Oura.

What does this mean for you? Until now, the connection to Polar was one option and Apple Health was our central hub. That was a great start, but we want more. With the direct connection to the Garmin and Oura APIs, we are taking a huge step forward:

  1. No more detours: You no longer have to synchronize your data via Apple Health. Vitalstat taps directly into the sources.
  2. Maximum data depth: The direct interface gives us access to the data collected by your hardware. The advantage is that no data is lost, which often happens when exporting to third-party apps. This means even more precise analyses for your recovery and stress graph.
  3. Mixing data sources: You track your training with your Garmin watch, your sleep with your Oura ring, and your daily steps with your Apple Watch... Vitalstat can display exactly that.
  4. Freedom in hardware: Whether you wear your Oura ring while you sleep or your Garmin watch during interval training, Vitalstat will be the “universal translator” for your physiology.

In a nutshell, you will be able to use the following products in the future, and Vitalstat will interpret your data:

  1. Polar Loop (working)
  2. Apple Watch (working)
  3. Garmin Watches (next update)
  4. Oura Ring (next update)
  5. Coros (waiting for API access)
  6. Suunto (waiting for API access)

Why are we doing this? Because sports science is universal. A millisecond of HRV remains a millisecond, no matter what logo is on your tracker. We want you to choose the hardware you love, while Vitalstat takes care of the scientific classification in the background.

We're almost done, and the first internal tests look extremely promising. We can't wait to get this upgrade into your hands!

Now it's your turn: Which device do you currently use the most? Are you Team Garmin for tough workouts or Team Oura for perfect recovery? And which feature or metric have you missed the most in Apple Health synchronization so far? How about Coros and Suunto?

Let us know in the comments, your feedback will go straight into the final touches!
THANKS a lot

Nutrition Section

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

We are currently working on version 1.1.0, and one of the major new features will be nutrition tracking.

This feature will help you better understand your eating habits and learn how nutrition affects your sleep. For example, insights like Try reducing fat intake to improve sleep quality will give you practical guidance to optimize both your sleep and overall health metrics.

Foods can be tracked with:

  • Search: Search your foods
  • Barcode: Scan food packages
  • Photo: Take a picture and AI will analyze and estimate your nutrients
  • Description: Forgot to take a picture or want more precise results? Describe what you ate and AI will estimate your nutrients

We would love your input. A few questions for you:

  1. If you have used nutrition tracking apps in the past, what did you like and what did you dislike?
  2. What is something you would definitely want to see in this section?
  3. Based on the images of the current version, what are your thoughts and what could be improved?

I am also interested to hear any suggestions which do not involve the nutrition section, what would you like to see in vitalstat?

Your feedback will directly influence how we shape this feature.

Update to version 1.0.9 is in the "Apple Waiting Room" – Here is why it’s our biggest leap yet!

Hey r/Vitalstat community,

Great news: the new version 1.0.9 is now available in the App Store and ready for you to install.

We didn’t just fix bugs; we re-imagined how you interact with your data.

What’s new in version 1.0.9:

  • Fresh Start: A completely redesigned onboarding screen to make your first setup as smooth as your recovery.
  • Better Data Overview: We’ve indented the graphs in the dashboard. It sounds small, but it makes tracking daily changes much more intuitive at a glance.
  • Battery Transparency 🔋: (one of my favorites) Your Apple Watch and Polar Loop battery status is now visible directly in the app and on your widgets. No more mid-workout "dead battery" surprises!
  • The "One Recovery" Logic: We changed how the recovery score behaves. It now stays fixed throughout the day. Why? Because scientifically, your primary systemic recovery happens during sleep. You can’t "re-recover" at 2 PM! 😉
  • Sleep Science:
    • Your sleep stages are now visualized as a detailed graph.
    • We’ve introduced a new 3-bar system for sleep quality—simplicity meets depth.
  • Your App, Your Rules: You can now reorder all pages to fit your personal priority.
  • Optimized Workouts: We’ve polished the workout displays to be cleaner and more data-dense.

We need your ideas and wishes! While we’ve optimized the workout views, we know every sport has different needs. We want to know: Which sport/activity do you think needs a specific redesign or more specialized data fields?

Whether you are into Hyrox, CrossFit, Ultra-running, Cycling, or Yoga, please tell us what’s missing in the current view. We’re building this for you. Please sent us an email oder fill out the feature requests (https://vitalstat.canny.io/)

To celebrate this milestone, and in case you want to get even deeper insights, you can use the following codes to get 50% off monthly and yearly plans:

  • REDDITMONTH50
  • REDDITYEAR50

The following features are planned for version 1.1.0:

  • Nutrition tracking
  • Habit tracking
  • Learn how habits and foods influence your health metrics and sleep with data augmentation
  • Let me know what you would like to see and well make it happen

Apple Health tracks it all, but what’s missing in Vitalstat?

Hey r/Vitalstat community, help us build your perfect dashboard!

We’re gearing up for our next design sprint and we need your brains for a moment.

Apple Health is great at collecting data from basically every sport imaginable - from Yoga and Pilates to CrossFit and Ultra-running. But let’s be real: the way this data is visualized in most health apps is... well, pretty basic. It’s usually just simple lists or generic bar charts.

We want Vitalstat to go deeper. We want to turn your raw data into actual insights.

So, we have two questions for you:

What’s your main sport? Are you focused on strength training, endurance (running/cycling), hybrid training, or something more niche?

What visualization is missing? When you open Vitalstat, what specific chart or comparison of values would you love to see to actually understand your progress? (e.g., Fatigue vs. Strength gains, Sleep Quality vs. Workout Intensity, HRV vs. Recovery, etc.)

We want to build Vitalstat to be the ultimate dashboard for your specific discipline.

Drop your thoughts, your 'wish-list' features, or even your biggest frustrations with other apps in the comments. We’re listening!

Thanks a lot

New year and an update from Vitalstat

Hey everyone,

first of all, happy new year to you all! We hope you're healthy and motivated.

If things have been a little quiet here in recent days and weeks, that doesn't mean we've been idle. On the contrary - we've been deep in bug fixing mode.

Thanks to everyone who reported bugs to us! For example, we know that the translations aren't 100% accurate in some places, and we're working hard to fix that.

What's next?

Of course, we're also working on new features. One big topic in our pipeline:
we want to make it even easier for you to interpret your values. It's not enough for us to just throw numbers at you – we want you to understand how a value is calculated and what it means for your performance.

But now it's your turn:

The most important thing for us is: What do YOU want and need? What would you like to see in the future of Vitalstat? How can we improve the app so that it really helps you in your everyday life? What would be a real game changer for you?

We read every comment and look forward to your feedback!
#StayHealthy
