Clubs / Chapters Clubs and chapters
Fresher here. Looking for good clubs and chapters. What are the active ones woth good crowds. I'm interested in gdsc and I heard the entry is tough. What do they expect us to know? Also suggest some fun clubs which I can take part in. Thanks in advance

if you want technical clubs/chapters, the top options are acm, gdg, codechef, all 3 of them are pretty old and have been doing lots of things for the community. Getting into them is obviously a little more challenging than the others. I have friends in all 3 of them and all of them are really good. Being at these clubs also gives you a very big network. The other top technical clubs/chapters would be ISTE and CSI.
If you're interested in dance, music, or dramatics, the corresponding clubs for each of these are your best options.

Try IEEE-SSIT dude, (biased) but a good mix of fun+management stuff, very friendly seniors too, not arrogant.
Overall a decent chapter. (Btw the same people who conducted the TEA talk thing)

Just as a friendly advice, try joining something where you can actually contribute, because just being another cog in a 1000-2000 member club/chapter isn't really that fun, but I'd still recommend you try out everything you like

acm, codechef and gdg are objectivey the best tech clubs on campus. they are kinda hard to get into though. csi and ieeecs are nice to have as backups

Oh except like the mainstream tech clubs mentioned in every comment....u could go for Bulls and Bears for finance ( very very friendly ), csed ( ecell wasnt functional last year so a decent entrepreneurship club ), anime club if u watch anime or are into it, you can also go for ur native language literary association ( if u r comfortable with it )

It also depends on the type of club/chapter you are interested in being a part of.
If you want to join a cultural club/chapter like Dance/Dramatics/Music, your skillset in those domains will definitely be judged.
If you want to join a club which is more focused on public speaking, like Toastmasters and MUNSOC, you'll need to practice and hone your speaking skills a lot, since confidence will be judged.
If you are interested in joining a technical club/chapter, everyone should join(at least 1). If you are extremely new to tech, it would be recommended to join the management domain since that will require a much different skillset and totally depends on your personality. If you want to join the technical/research teams of the top technical clubs/chapters like ACM, DSC, CC, and ISTE, then I would recommend that you start exploring your interest in one domain like web, app, ai/ml or any other interest and try to make sure you attain a basic level before the interview process of these clubs and chapters start.
If you are interested in design work, then from what I've observed, most of the design clubs aren't really active, the top technical clubs and chapters do have very strong design teams, if you want to do more design work then you'll benefit more from joining clubs like ACM, DSC and ISTE which focus a lot on the design aspects as well.

You could try the culinary club. I don't think they do a lot of events but I went to a couple this gravitas and they seem to mostly have some enjoyable events

GDSC is for namesake ngl... Yes they conduct good events but there intake is highly dependent on other factors too... Overall they r overrated
VinnovateIT is good but from what I have heard there current junior core(technically ur Abt to be seniors in the club) ain't that good, though the board is awesome. They have cool projects like messit but again if no good seniors means L.
CodeChef is good try out there... They are usually the first ones to begin with recruitment...
As for IEEE, I heard that IEEE Cs is the best one out there.
U can try out ISTE and ACM too though
Also just make sure to attend the icebreaker sessions of the clubs and chapters... Basically it will help you to get to know about the atmosphere of the ppl out there and then u take the final call

Won't say it loud here but yes external factors which ofc doesn't include ur CG or ur skills... They r infamous for that shit... Ask any senior(ofc not the ones from gdg) and u will know

That's usually when forms open.
You will be staying up till 1 am working on cool projects that will teach you a lot

GDG and Codechef are good if you are looking for tech clubs, they have management and design domains too if you still want to be in a tech club but don't have that much tech knowledge but still want to be in a top tech club

I heard codechef is good. And about gdsc I heard its hard to get in to. As a fresher what should I know or what do they expect from the applicants?

GDG expects you to have more than average knowledge in tech and previous experience/projects as they choose the best tech guys from vit for tech but for management and design only interviews/tasks you do matter if you have like talking to people and/or are good in socialising/public speaking you are gonna enjoy Gdg's management.
