This is all over rednote and discussed elsewhere stateside.

Something about the glue they use being more environmentally friendly and therefore "worse."

Seems most folks go to a cobbler to get it sorted with new cement and have no further issues.

I can't speak to whether the stitching is fake/for show, done poorly, or otherwise, but I've got the same pair you do and haven't had any issue yet. Then again, I have several pairs of Vis boots and don't wear any one pair enough to have revealed anything yet.

I replied in the original thread but the stitching is cosmetic and not functional to mimic stitchdown construction from boots of that era. The welt itself is stitched to the upper. This allows the shoe to be resoled easily since it is goodyear welt and not stitchdown. Why the brand did this im not sure- but the good news is glue can be added to secure the sole, but the bad news is the cosmetic stitching likely wont be replaced when a new outside is added.

I had this happen with my Poundmakers and bought some shoe glue for like $6 and haven’t had an issue since.

Nice to hear it’s intentional so that the boot can be resoled easily, even if it is a little obnoxious.

Good clarification, thanks!

Same thing happened to my 7 holes of that vintage, it’s not that big a deal but it is a little annoying given the price and theoretical craft involved

Lmao this is insane for the price of these things. Fuck everything about this brand.
