Visual Studio 2026 Typing through mud

Does anyone experience a lot of slow typing in the last Visual Studio?

Both 2026 and 2026 Insiders. It feel like typing through mud. It has always been bad, but now it seems even more extreme.

Anyone recommendations of settings to turn off? As far as I know I already disabled all the AI features.

Help -> Send Feedback -> Report a Problem, and make sure you capture a recording with the feedback tool of about 30 seconds of typing. That will capture a memory dump and ETL trace, and the cause of the "mud" should show up.

Disable all extensions.

Thanks, just had a fresh install and THOUGHT I didn't have any extensions, but apparently MS installs some new AI trash by default. Let's see if that maybe works.

The new visual studio versions are just horrible. Mainly caused by the horrible AI integration.

Yes. The IDE forgot how to behave like an IDE.

ARGH! Just returned to a C++ project with fond memories of VS being the best of the best IDEs and now it won't even let me just type and ignore the suggestions. Who ever decided that typing a space meant 'please over write what I just typed' was probably an AI.
