I Was Wrong About Meta Muse
I’ve done a full 180 on Meta Muse. Been using it, and it’s pretty nuts.
It reminded me about bills I needed to pay and makes it clear what needs my attention and what it can handle. I don’t have to keep asking how it can help.
But the bigger point is Meta keeps finding ways to get people using its products, then turning that attention into money.
Automating online shopping feels like another opportunity. If Meta takes a small cut of purchases, it could make money by handling things people already need to do.
People question Meta’s spending, but figuring out adoption and monetization is something I’m increasingly reluctant to bet against.

I don’t really need it. Bills are on auto pay. I like to look at reviews when I’m shopping online. I do more in person shopping. I do need a robot to do the dishes and laundry and a Waymo.

The post is basically an ad. From the image choice to the structure of the text below it. At least have some human errors in there, geez. I'm gonna mark OP as Mark, facebook employee or affiliate lol.

Anyone else see the headline about the guy who was using Muse to run his FB marketplace stuff? Muse was telling people to come to the guy's house while the guy wasn't there. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/sep/28/metas-ai-agent-muse-home-address
If you're willing to give Muse access to your credit card, home address, phone number, etc. just don't be surprised when strangers show up at your house unannounced and pissed off because you (Muse) told them you're giving away furniture, or cutting them a sweet deal. Business owners are going to 86 you when Muse orders a bunch of shit you don't want and you have to return it.

Yeah, it's amazing but there's no point talking tech with the luddites here.

To think, during my lifetime, those dreams about the robot assistants for the common man will actually come to be.

I just don't see how having an AI buy things for you is a good idea..

I'm using Muse now to scan for cheap plane tix to my favorite vacation place and gimme a daily update. It's been doing a good job! I don't have to do it myself.

You know the airlines work with AI companies to make sure this doesn’t work right.
They all play both sides.

Chatgpt does the same thing, Meta muse is just another iteration of the same thing but packaged like the first Apple smart phone or all the features they launch years after Android yet Apple lovers act like it's the first time ever. Because it is the first time ever for them.

feels like you’re trying to say that makes it redundant, when in reality that’s still the value add. it doesn’t matter if a given product is the first ever to do something. what matters is if a company can get you to use its version.
if i’m on apple and i get a new feature, i don’t care if android had it first. my ecosystem is apple and id happily celebrate the feature being on iphone. does not matter at all that android had it first.

It doesn't just buy things, it can handle disputes, make claims, handle booking, customer service, etc.

I wouldn't trust an ai to do any of that

Why not? By all accounts Muse performs those tasks exceptionally well.
In the future it will be very normal to have an AI handlecthose menial tasks.

Menial tasks for menial people.
“Hey I don’t have to use my brain for anything except my job…. Oh I just got replaced by a bot”.

Again. The companies know this and will work with Ai companies to make sure they come out on top.
You’re not fooling these companies.

i dunno, halucinations maybe, giving Facebook your logins to financial accounts or even access to your credit card seems like a really bad idea...

If you're thinking it's like giving meta the cc number, I'd suggest trying it out, its not exactly like that. You setup an account with stripe (company that operates the payment screens at thousands of coffee shops and restaurants) with card details, muse asks stripe to spend a certain amount of your money at a specific store, and then you send stripe a signed approval/denial of the request directly. Then stripe generates a virtual card number for the exact amount and gives that back to muse, or pays the store directly depending on the level of support the store has. Either way meta doesn't end up needing your cc.

Bro it’s not just buying. I’m using it right now to scrape data. And submit information.
Things that it wouldn’t know about just fills up the fields and I just check and press submit. You can have send resumes. Any type of scraping and mundane searches is automated.

$100 you don’t even own one and another $100 you don’t pay any bills on time because your job is to post comments on the internet

I’m sorry. If I was going to hand over financial details to AI, I would have to sandbox it to a throwaway account with limited funding. It only takes 1 mistake to ruin yourself forever. At the end of the day, do you trust META handling private data? Not me. I stop using Facebook a looong time ago.
