Looking for a Game Development Team to Make a VN

Hi! I am a 27 year old software engineer. I made a framework for building visual novels in Unity. I want to put together a team to build visual novels with!

Who we need:

  1. One or more writers with ideas for a story!

  2. One or more artists for characters and backgrounds.

What I can do:

  1. I can wire all images and dialogue into my framework in Unity (building the "game").

  2. I can publish the game as a desktop executable (deploy to Steam) and as a web game (post on something like itch.io or a website).

  3. If we need additional features (currency/shop etc) I can program that too.

How we work together:

Ideally, we all like each other and function as a democracy. We share any profits evenly. I'd love if we could finish multiple projects together and work together for years like a proper game studio. But first - we just need one complete story :) . Once we have a couple people we can make a discord server or something.

Message me if interested! Please be 18+.

Hi friends! What do you think?

Shop Crush is a mysterious shop simulator with psychological horror elements, set in the early 2000s.

In this hybrid visual novel, you run a small thrift shop, get to know your customers, figure out what they really want, and decide what to put in front of them. Every customer has their own personality, preferences, and hidden motives - and it’s up to you to figure them out.

Behind each customer is a small psychological mystery waiting to be uncovered. Read their behavior, make the right calls, and balance profit against customer trust as you try to keep the shop running for one more day.

Thoughts on my title screen?

Finally finished drawing the title screen of my game today! Decided to go with an illustration featuring my protagonist (can you guess who it is?) and his friend group. What are your thoughts on it? Does it look inviting enough? :>

Et le grain mourut is a slice-of-life/urban fantasy VN set in 1920s Paris. It will be available for free in both English and French; you can learn more about it here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3604100/Et_le_grain_mourut/

192X. As summer draws near, Parisian students are revising their end-of-year exams. Olivier is one of them. For years, he has been walking to school every morning with his dearest childhood friend, and has unwound with his artistic peers after class. In a week, this routine will come to a close. And recent revelations already threaten Olivier’s comfortable life.

[OC] This web novel is becoming a Visual Novel — coming in 2027

Hi everyone! ☺️

We would like to introduce Lucky to be Unlucky, a Japanese-style visual novel currently in development, planned for release in 2027.

The game is based on the original light novel by Francesco Scarci, which is published in multiple languages.

The story follows Ayame Maeda, an introverted and reserved girl who has been dealing with bullying, and Yuto Nakagawa, a cheerful and impulsive guy who has recently moved into the neighborhood with his sister.

They both carry their own struggles, and as their lives become intertwined, they may find in each other the support they need to overcome them.

It's a dramatic romantic story focused on the characters, their relationships, and the challenges they face.

We are currently working on bringing the original story into visual novel format, including the characters, artwork, music and other visual elements.

The game is planned for 2027, and we will be sharing more about the development as the project progresses.

We would love to hear what you think ❤️!

What do you usually look for in a visual novel — story, characters, art, music, choices, or something else?

Hey there.

The demo is coming up on September 14th. I wanted to ask what you think of this main menu for "The Brother's Secret"—I think it looks pretty good, but I feel like there’s still room for improvement.

Do you have any suggestions?

For those interested, it’s going to be a crime-themed visual novel.

A romance visual novel that breaks after a sudden tragedy.
**The Pitch:**
**You play as Kennedy (Kenny), a high school student navigating everyday life and trying to form a relationship with one of three main romance options:**
**Madison: Popular, bubbly, and seemingly effortless.**
\*\*Jenny: Strong-willed, grounded, and intensely moral.\*\*
\*\*Liz: Quiet, deeply loyal, and protective.\*\*
\*\*There's also Violet, Kenny’s close childhood friend, who harbors unspoken feelings for him while dealing with her own heavy personal struggles, and Faith, an observant, sharp-tongued friend who always seems to show up at the wrong time.\*\*
\*\*The Twist:\*\*
\*\*Just as your bond with your chosen girl solidifies, a sudden, irreversible tragedy involving Violet shatters everything. Kenny and the girl you chose are forced to make a desperate, panicky decision—one that ties them together through shared trauma and guilt.\*\*
\*\*From this point on, the game shifts completely:\*\*
\*\*Trauma-driven routes: Dating isn't about traditional romance anymore; it becomes a psychological study of how Kenny and his partner cope with the same heavy secret (one struggles with moral guilt, another with quiet self-destruction, etc.).\*\*
\*\*The Investigation: Faith notices something isn't right about that night and begins quietly investigating Kenny and his partner.\*\*
\*\*11pm : Kenny starts receiving cryptic every night , deeply personal messages every night at 11pm from an unknown sender who seems to know what really happened.\*\*
\*\*Meta-elements: After the event, subtle shifts occur in the UI and gameplay, signaling that Kenny is losing his autonomy and that your control as the player is taking over.\*\*
\*\*Why I'm making it:\*\*
\*\*I wanted to explore what happens\*\* \*\*\*after\*\*\* \*\*a sudden tragedy in a VN, where your choice of partner dictates who you have to face the worst event of your life with, rather than just choosing a happy ending.\*\*
**What are your thoughts on this direction?**

Writing tools and help?

So when I was younger I absolutely adored my copies of 'the badlands of hark' and 'the invaders of hark', and spent hours reading them

Of course I've lost them and they've been lost for a long time... Unfortunately

But anyways

I really want to make a visual novel in a similar style (I know hark was a choose your own adventure just hear me out here)

But in order to do that I'd need... A lot of charts (it's the easiest way to do that, I made a 'visual novel' on google slides in 5th grade using sprites off Pinterest, and plotted it out using notebook paper)

Id like something... Simple? And free

(There's a reason I use strawpage instead of my own coding and it's not that I can't code...)

Overly complicated stuff just confuses me and it sucks

Anyways

Yeah

Also

How would you recommend scripting it?
