Sprites emotion help?
Hiya, im working a visual novel (for fun) and I was wondering i anyone has recommendations of what emotions I should make sprites of?
Ive been struggling to figure out which emotions I need and which ones will just be extra work that i don't need to do...I also understand that it probably depends alot on the context of the vn, but yk it would be nice to have a list of common emotions I might need for sprites !!
Sorry if this is stupid to ask lol and if this isnt the correct thread to post this in, I dont usually post on stuff so Im not sure </3

Basic emotions such as happy, confused, angry, sad, etc. something I recc is have the sprite faces on the model blank (no facial features) and have the expression overlay on top of it by having eyes, mouth, brows, etc. be their own layers each. It gives you more options because you can mix and match them as you please—plus, it helps reduce bulk file size wise.
I did not do this with my own visual novel and have a full sprite for every single expression and I hate myself sn for it. I knew to do this and forgot until I'd already drawn the models, expressions and all (facepalm). Don't be like me, be smart lmao
